Change from 8 P slots to:

2 SP + 2 RP + 4 P
4 SP + 2 RP + 2 p

or any other combination...

I just feel like this is constraining strategy. Let people put as many or as few relievers or starters as they want!

Agreed. I’d rather see the switch away from wins than this. I feel pitching nowadays has transitioned in such a way that there’s a greater blur between actual starters, game openers, middle/closing relievers. I want flexibility in how I chose to set my staff up,

@Freeman: There has to be constraints to reflect actual baseball. We don't have any defensive stats yet we constrain you to x number of defensive positions (C,1B,2B, etc...).

@ Jared: This is a better argument against the slot constraints but in turn, it becomes an argument for the QA4 stat (or some such variation).

Seems like the main impact would be somewhat capping the number of relievers to 6. Which isn't that much of a constraint--I don't think that's happened too much that someone has wanted to roll out more than 6 relievers. But is this the realistic constraint we're trying to put in--not having someone rolling out 7 or 8 relievers on a daily basis? I'll think about that one some more.

Actually, the capping it at 4 might be more interesting. Right now, the value of relievers is low once we added holds. But you cap it at 4 and high saves/hold guys might get more valuable because you can't make up for a weaker staff by adding more guys. This is actually more interesting than I initially thought.
