A notion was brought up by Ryan to expand rosters in September by two players.
It appears that Fantrax has the ability to make this change mid-season.
I would advocate placing all FA's on waivers at a specific date/time for a short period, perhaps 24 hours.

I think we should just keep our FA budget. Such a change is more strategic than just expanding the rosters.

The FA budget wouldn't change. You'd have to have dollars in your budget to acquire the extra players.

Sept is when playoffs start, right?
It's more strategic to let folks keep the FA budget all throughout the playoffs, allowing them to make moves as long as they have the budget. Is that being considered as well as the roster expansion?

Everything else would stay the same.
Our playoffs start Monday, September 4th. At that point, owners are subject to the existing rules on playoff acquisitions (2 per contest subject to the FA budget).
I think we could do the roster expansion period between September 1st and 3rd.
What if you don't expand your roster by the 3rd?
1. Playoff teams - you can use those roster spots with acquisitions subject to above playoff rules.
2. Non-playoff teams - you may use those roster spots (say, players coming from the IL) but you cannot acquire more players.
[edit] Per existing rules, all playoff acquisitions remain un-keepable.

If we want to mimic MLB, we can have the rosters expand by 2 for the last three weeks of the season, which is the second round of divisional play. Then the rosters can drop back down to the regular 26 for the playoffs.

This year’s playoffs were particularly exciting because of the really tough playoff add choices Ryan, Matt, and I had to make in order to maximize our pitching volume. I’d hate for expanded rosters to ruin that (I.e. plotting out the starters’ schedule so far in advance that you can pick up all the volume you need before the playoffs even begin)

This actually changes the nature of the game for the play-offs. Adding two slots changes the game--you can add relievers or starters. Why would we want the game to be different in the play-offs as opposed to the regular season? It was a nice idea to toy with trying to mimic MLB's September expansion but it doesn't seem like something we really want to do. Does someone have an argument as to why we should do it?

I don't really remember why Ryan brought it up. Ryan?
I do know it's possible in Fantrax, regardless of its merits.
