Name for me the 3 worst things Obama has done while in office, and how Romney differs from him.

1. Not dealing with our structural deficits. I don't know whether Romney will do better.
2. Increased government spending via new health care legislation and stimulus without a plan to cover the cost. I don't see Romney committing this error.
3. Refusal to work on simplifying our tax or regulatory structures to the detriment of business planning.

Does anyone else have the feeling that this thread will be similar to many of our others?

I'm asking what he'll do differently. With evidence. I see no difference between them, besides looks and trading one annoying accent for another.

The beauty of being a Paulista is there is never any difference between anyone, unless they are named "Paul."

I do. Also, since there will be no evidence capable of convincing Jeff, we might as well let this thread tumbleweed.

Gary Johnson is quite different. Hell, Santorum would have made a clear difference with Obama. I think you're just using this as an excuse because you can't come up with anything.

I was really disappointed with RayJ's attempt, but at least he tried.

You've set the table for a perfect round of "Why can't anyone be as perfect as Ron Paul or Gary Johnson?" Fun times.

How so? All I asked was for 3 differences between them. There is no difference if his most ardent supporters can't come up with any.

I see that you edited out my Santorum comment. This thread wouldn't exist if he was the nominee. So, as an undecided voter, I need some help.

In fairness to Jeff, if these are the big three then it isn't immediately obvious that Romney is going to be much different. So far as I'm aware Romney plans to cut taxes and increase military spending, which means that if he's serious about eliminating the structural deficit he's going to need to find some pretty savage cuts from other areas. This is very unlikely to be politically possible. Obamacare is very similar to Romneycare, so there's no obvious reason for supposing that Romney has a better plan for cutting long-term health costs, and the stimulus spending was mostly one-off expenditure rather than ongoing costs, with the exception of the tax cuts which Romney is clearly not going to reverse. Simplifying regulatory structures I guess may be possible, but we have no means of knowing. If i had a dollar for every time I've heard a politician talk about it though then I'd be richer than Romney.

1. Won't waste $800B on a Stimulus like Obama did.
2. Will repeal Obamacare.
3. Will not let government agencies run roughshod on us--EPA, Justice Department, TSA.
4. Won't look for ways to "invest" government money in speculative private ventures.
5. Obama failed to submit budgets that can pass; Romney will.
6. Obama nearly fainted in fear in the presence of the Chinese and Russian leadership; Romney won't.
7. Obama blocked drilling permits and the Keystone XL pipeline; Romney won't.
8. Obama appointed fire-breathing liberals to the Supreme Court; Romney won't.

There are many differences. They're just not enough for you. Johnson would legalize drugs and prostitution. Is that reason to vote for him?

You sound like those dewey eyed Obama supporters back in 2008.

I, on the other hand, predict

1) Deficits will continue to increase under Romney (the increase in the debt under Romney will be greater than the increase in the debt under Obama)
2) Federal agencies will continue to hamper business (except for large, politically connected businesses)
3) Democrats will blame Americas continued depression on the "free market", and will rail against "Romney's wars" in Afghnistan and Iraq.
4) Obamacare will not be repealed.

1. Not even close to being true
2. Romneycare is so much different, and so much better. Fight on, free market warrior. "repeal the bad and keep the good". Let's see how much his mind changes...again.
3. Based on what? I mean, it seems like you're grasping at straws here. He doesn't have any plans to kill any of the useless bureaucracies, and he's not going to do a damn thing in that area. This is partisan nonsense.
4. False, again.
5. again, you're just making this shit up as you go, aren't you. Give me some facts, not faith.
6. Yeah, right. Romney's the biggest wimp I've ever seen in my life. The dude practically choked up in Arizona when he got booed for supporting the indefinite detention of American citizens without trial.
7. Maybe, maybe not. But I don't know if you're aware, but the price of oil is not high. It's actually low, when you compare it to any static measure of value, such as gold.
8. Again, this is just partisan bs.

Steve, you gave me one differentiation so far (#7 qualifies, as silly as it is). False claims don't count.

Interestingly, you said over in the other thread that THE issue will be the deficit. That doesn't help Romney at all.

I know there are a lot of differences. Romney is white. Obama is mixed. Romney is Mormon. Obama is Christian. Romney says 'guvmint" in a really annoying way. Obama's is an "s" whistler.

But the question I asked you was not to find some differences. I said to identify the 3 worst things about Obama. If you answered that part honestly, then the stimulus, Obamacare, and government "investment" into businesses are the 3 worst things about Obama.

I dunno...on one hand Romney strikes me as a Republican John Kerry (remember when Republicans used to denounce flip-floppers?)...so boring and samey that people won't care enough to vote for him. I don't think dislike for Obama is enough to overcome Romney's lack of a personality or principle. At least Obama has principle. Frankly, anyone claiming (like Steve) to have any clue what Romney will do in office is kidding himself (true for any politician, but particularly for Romney

Then again, the economy could turn drastically worse on a dime, and if it does the voters will turn on Obama, regardless of who he is running against.

So yes, I think Obama will lose if we see another crash like in 2008 before the election. But if the economy keeps on going relatively as it is (badly, but not hugely worse) then Romney loses handily.

Personally, I hope Romney wins. I can't wait to see the Democrats start caring about wars and civil liberties again (and see the Republicans bending over backwards to explain why Romney couldn't cut spending). It'll be good for a laugh.
