It seems as though the response from mainstream Islam to attacks such as these follows the following pattern:
1. These attackers do not represent all of Islam
2. We hope there will not be reprisals for this attack on Muslims
3. If the Palestinians weren't treated so unfairly, this would not have happened
4. What do you expect given the role of the West in the Middle East?
5. Oh, and by the way, we condemn this act of terrorism.
It is a relief to see #5 swapped for #1. It's refreshing to see Muslim youth unafraid to organize and be leaders. It gives me hope that there really are new Muslim heroes ready to emerge in what I hope becomes a Muslim movement to restore faith in a God that does not equate submission to the sword.
