So, speaking Spanish is THE definition of being Hispanic?

For many Hispanics, if a person doesn't speak the language they aren't really Hispanic.... So it is important.
Especially in areas where Spanish has become lingua franca ....

Cruz is in authentically Hispanic to this group of people. And they don't need Halperin to help them make this call.
What Halperin was clumsily attempting to demonstrate is for non-Hispanics who think Cruz is genuinely Hispanic and are attracted by this label.
