George Zimmerman's brother tweeted post incident “the way people choose 2publicly portray themselves (with middle fingers) speaks volumes about their character” to “Lib media shld ask if what these2 black teens did 2 a woman&baby is the reason ppl think blacks mightB risky”

He (essentially) justified George's profiling and pursuit of Treyvon for being black, though at no time has George Zimmerman substantiated his pursuit of Trayvon based on anything he witnessed him doing.

Unless you're 'Church Lady' I can hardly imagine a middle finger example as anything more than grasping at straws: http://www.silberstudios.tv/wp-content/ ... finger.jpg

Compare and contrast this case with Zimmerman.

No gun.

4 against 1.

Demonstrated depraved indifference and malice.

Four south Cobb teenagers are in custody in connection with the beating death of a 36-year-old Mableton man on Mableton Parkway early Sunday morning…

They have been accused in the beating death of Joshua Heath Chellew, 36…

According to the warrant, the four teenagers are accused of starting a fight with Chellew at a Chevron gas station in the 6200 block of Mableton Parkway near Community Drive at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday. They repeatedly punched and kicked him, according to police.

While attempting to escape, Chellew backed into the center five-lane highway and was pushed to the ground and knocked unconscious, the warrant states.

They then walked away from Chellew, “leaving him helpless,” and he was eventually hit by a car, the warrant states.

Where is the media?

One problem: the victim is a white male.

Johnathan Donald Anthony, Jekari Oshay Strozier, Antonio Pass and Kemonaa Deandre Bonds have all been charged with murder, aggravated assault and felony street gang activity in connection to the June 30 death of Joshua Chellew in what police believe was a gang-related attack. The four, all from Mableton except for Strozier — an Austell resident — are accused of punching, hitting and kicking Chellew as he attempted to escape by backing into Mableton Parkway.

Chellew was knocked to the ground and incapacitated, and left in the middle of the roadway where he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

According to witness statements, all of the accused still were at the scene at the time the victim was hit by a car. Witnesses at the scene said none of the four attempted to aid Chellew or stop the approaching vehicle.

The warrant states the four men are documented members of Re-Up — a street gang.

Good thing he wasn't armed! Who knows what might have happened!

They were charged, right? I'm sure there is a point in there, somewhere...

Where's the media frenzy?

This crime is 1000 times more heinous than the worst allegations against Zimmerman. The silence is deafening.

I doubt that the death of a young black generally gets a lot of attention either. There has to be something else going on that makes it newsworthy. In Trayvon Martun's case there were issues of race, the fact that the victim was unarmed, and there was the national issue of stand your ground laws. Besides the fact that it was a homicide, I don't see anything newsworthy here. I think you are stretching a bit to try and substantiate your perception of liberal bias in the media--I don't think this example helps your case.

Let's see . . . race? Check.

Victim unarmed? Check.

Stand your ground? Did not apply in Zimmerman either, so irrelevant.

fyi, so Zimmerman profiled Martin? Yep, racial profiling, he saw a black kid in a hoodie and followed him. Ummmm, that's not against the law nor does it excuse Martin for beating up Zimmerman, the jury (obviously) saw the same thing. Was Zimmerman some sort of saint? Nope, far from it. He had followed a kid after being told not to do so, he was a wannabe cop, he had a (legal) gun, I get it folks, he wasn't a saint, but NONE of this mattered as far as self defense and the jury thought the same thing., it was frankly pretty unlikely they could have come up with any other verdict.

I'm thinking we will see several riots across the country. Areas that have no real interest other than some sort of excuse to raise some hell. Terrible and foolish behavior and I hope I am wrong. I did not mean to sound smug about it, but I think this will spill over, and ask any of those who DO riot about the facts of the case, they will all be totally ignorant of any and all facts, they simply will not like the verdict based on what they have heard from others and the herd mentality will take over. I am hoping the riots are limited and actually, this result coming in somewhat late on a Saturday may help a LOT, maybe it blows over without incident?

Many protests, but only minor rioting (Oakland) as far as I know.

I'm surprised that the ACLU is calling for a DOJ investigation. The state has fully prosecuted the case -- in fact bent over backwards in many ways. The jury has decided.

I would think that no double jeopardy, innocent until proven guilty, and full respect for a jury trial were bedrock beliefs of the ACLU.

Meh. Didn't they review the CIA waterboarding?

Btw, thanks for acknowledging that you were entirely wrong on this case--well, after your initial post. :)

Oh, wait, you didn't? I will note that in another forum you are decrying the promotion of experience over education/research by me.

In this case, one might presume you had both, yet you wrongly predicted Zimmerman would not walk.

Entirely wrong on this case? I made arguments as to why Zimmerman should have been convicted-- I don't know how what a jury decides affects those arguments. You made predictions on whether he was going to be convicted--I did not.

I have no doubt this case will go before a civil court, I expect that to also fail but t is certainly fair game and even has at least some chance of winning there. But if this goes to federal courts, then it's a complete sham bowing to pressure from those who want nothing more than a lynching. It was bad enough that this went to trial when the local police did not think it warranted a trial, it was bad enough when the Feds seemed to encourage the protests, it was bad enough when Obama claimed Trayvon would look like his own son. This entire case got out of hand and the jury determined self defense, it should now be DONE, sore losers who bow to the wishes of the ignorant is very distasteful!
