He even...gulp...praised Obama as a leader (I saw some conservative say that he couldn't tell if Paul was being serious or not, but I saw a clip and he appeared serious....He is right on the unjustness of minimum sentencing laws. These laws are passed because people think that liberal judges will be soft on crime. Well, for one thing there are not a lot of liberal judges, but apart from that that you have to give judges the flexibility to make exceptions for cases that do not reflect the intent of the statute. Judicial discretion is necessary for justice to be done. As it is now, you have conservative law and order judges that complain about the severity of sentences that they have to give in cases that don't deserve such harsh sentences
