So Vince, what is the reason that you don't contact other players by email? Did the name of the game not give you a clue as to the way it's designed? Did you find that gunboating gives you some kind of advantage over all those silly 'statists' who talk to each other and form alliances?

Again, I did quite well out of the way you played that game, Germany and I were able to build an alliance over putting your idiocy down, and I topped the board. It was a little hollow though. Seeing as you now tell us that's how you always play games here, it kind of confirms why I don't want to be in a game with you again.

Oddly, I've also been in a game with people who I always seem to disagree with in the forums, and we got on fine. More than once, in fact.

Besides, on the general topic it's a bit rich for you to whine about how we are so snarky when everything boils down to you being able to call us all 'statists', try to smear us with false equivalance, and tell us how superior you are to us. It was boring and annoying 5 years ago.

I don't like killing people. I don't like imprisoning people who don't deserve it or who aren't a threat to others. I don't like theft, but taxes are not theft, they are the price to pay to live in a civilisation. You don't like civilisation? You are free to leave it. If you choose to stay and annoy everyone with your complaints about how unfair it is that you may have to contribute towards the things that make life so comfortable for you, well, that's your right. But no-one else has to agree with you.

Dan, believe what you like. My record here on redscape speaks for itself, as does the feeble participation here.

No honestly, I'd love to know as a keen player of Diplomacy. What is your strategic rationale for not sending messages to other players in a pbem game? Surely there must be one, if you've been doing it for ten years.

My opening point was I would not want to play in a game with a gunboater, unless it was a proper Gunboat game (in which case I wouldn't know anyway, and which is a different kind of play).

Just wow.

Politics aside, the idea that someone (TL) could think that not communicating in any game of Diplomacy that is not specifically "gunboat" would be effective is really something. It's funny too because I find players who try this in ftf games. It doesn't work. It can't work. I don't care what his record is; I'm sure it's not the equal of Orange, Riaz, Ray Jay, and other top-flight players here. They actually write and it has an impact on the game.

If you don't like communicating, Vince, Diplomacy is not your game.

Steve, I didn't mean my record of success at diplomacy. In my time here I believe I've won a single game. I meant my record of contributing to Redscape.
