So I think it's time to start planning for the next cycle.

4 years out, and I'm going to predict that the front-runners in the GOP race will be:
1. Rand Paul
2. Mitch Daniels
3. Mitt Romney

Any other guesses?

I'm fairly clueless on the DNC. They may end up with a goon of a candidate, but I don't have any guesses yet.

RNC: Romney may be up there, but only if he loses this year's nomination. One of the Pauls will run. Christie must be a favourite to go for it.

DNC: La Clinton.

Well compared to this cycle's clowns Mitch Daniels looks pretty good--sometimes (as was true with Obama) a good speech can set you on the path to being a legitimate candidate. His State of the Union response was pretty good About time to recycle another Bush (Jeb)? I think Romney's time is now--if he doesn't win this time I think Republicans will not want to try him again.

Really ?

If Romney can't win the nomination this time round then he may as well pack up, go home and spend some quality time with his fortune. But let's not waste too much time thinking about what happens 5 years hence.
