Hello drivers! My name is Jack Beckman, and I will be your Steward for Season 8 of the Redscape C1 races. Some of you have not raced with me before, so please read this email in its entirety and ask questions about anything that’s not clear to you.

First, welcome to the new drivers coming up from C2: Stephen Peeples, Doug Schulz, Chris Brandt, and Tim Burnett.

I will be running a fairly strict schedule, with plots due Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 4 PM ET (US) unless I say otherwise. Plots that are late will not be accepted unless you can show it was actually sent before the deadline. I will respond to every build/bid/plot, usually with a terse “Got it” or something similar. I know some drivers like to add commentary/thoughts to their plots, and I do enjoy reading them, but usually I don’t comment so as to make sure I don’t give something away. If you have sent in your plot but have not received an acknowledgement from me, and the deadline is closing in, send it again. Don’t assume that I got it! Also, even if your plot seems obvious to you, and you plan to use the default, please send one anyway. If I have all plots in early, I will process the turn early, which will help us stay on target for the inevitable delays at times. I will *try* to send out reminders, but I often don’t have the time to do so - do not rely on me reminding you!

If I don’t receive a plot on time, I will use the guidelines set out by Mike to move your car. This plot is designed so that you will spend zero wear all the way around the track. You may not enjoy where you end up with one of these plots.

There are a series of defaults for how I will process your plot. You can override these defaults on a given turn by letting me know what you would like (such as “if line blocked, spend more wear and go inside, get me through corner”, etc.).

In addition, there are penalties for an NPR (No Plot Received) which are detailed at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vuC ... dO7A/edit#
as well as the defaults and other Redscape rules. If you want something OTHER than the given defaults, please let me know.

When plotting, please take into account that you may not be able to get the line/lane/space you are shooting for and have a backup plot listed if possible. Otherwise I will use the defaults and best judgement. My judgement may not be your judgement.

If you have a question about whether or not something is allowed, please feel free to ask. I cannot offer advice, but I will help you with the rules. If you have any questions about what you can and cannot do, please ask rather than assume.

Please know now that I *will* make mistakes - moving cars to the wrong place, mis-interpreting your plot, forgetting to take wear/skill (or taking too much). Please AUDIT what I have done with your car and let me know as soon as possible about any potential issues! The sooner I know about them the easier they are to fix. If you tell me 6 turns later that you should have been one space further up, it’s probably too late to fix.

Below are your assigned cars. New drivers, please select one of the open cars. I suggest giving me a few choices in case your first choice is taken.

Here is the track for race 1 - Yeongam. Please send your 2-point builds to me no later than Wednesday, 2 June @ 4 PM ET (US). The build point costs are found at http://www.lucidphoenix.com/sc/rules/core/setup.asp . Once I have the builds, I will send them out and call for pole bids, which will be due Friday, 4 June @ 4 PM ET (US). Remember when bidding for pole that skill chips are worth 0.5 and wear 1 point. A bid of zero is perfectly legal (and if I don’t receive a bid by the bid deadline, you will get a zero bid). Ties will be resolved using percentile dice on an internet die roller.

Drivers,

Here are the buildsfor Race 1:

Redscape C1 Season 8 Race 1 Builds.png

Bids are due Friday, 4 June @ 4 PM ET (US). Remember that Wear counts as 1 and Skill counts as 0.5. A bid of 0 is legal, and if I don’t get a bid by the deadline your bid will be 0. Ties will be decided on an internet die roller using d100, where higher is better.

In the past I have had drivers tell me that they sent their bid, only to find it in their drafts or mis-sent. Since I will send an acknowledgement, if you think you sent it and don’t get one, and the deadline is nearing, send it again.

Drivers, below are the builds and bids. Note that a bid of just 0.5 would have moved a car up the grid 6 positions, as 6 drivers (half the field) bid 0.

Redscape C1 Season 8 Race 1 Starting grid.png

Here’s the grid on the track below. ONE IMPORTANT NOTE:

The track switches inside/outside in the last two rows. However, no starting grid would ever honor such a switch, and neither did I. For the purposes of the start and ANY game turn until ALL cars have cleared those last two rows, the inside shall be deemed to be on the inside of the track, just as in the first 4 rows. Once ALL cars have cleared those rows, the track will revert to normal for inside/outside. I have noted this on the track for now (and yes, I have the artistic ability of a 2nd grader).

The lights go out and the race is underway!

Many drivers pushed their start - all used 2 skill, so I will not bother reporting it on each one.

Stephen gets the jump pushing to 120 (1 = OK) and grabs the start of the line.

Jim pulls off at 80 (6 = OK).

Tim then hits 120 (6 = OK) and pulls behind Stephen for P2.

Chris L pushes to 80 (4 = OK) and pulls behind Jim.

Jeff pulls away drama-free at 60.

Chris B tests for 80 (5 = OK) and pulls outside of Jeff for P7.

Mike pushes for 40 (5 = OK) and makes it.

Bruce starts at 60 without risk.

John also choose to pull away risk-free at 20.

Mario tests for 80 (5 = OK) and pulls outside of Bruce for P10.

Don tries for 40 and mis-shifts (9 = mis-shift) and so plots 20-under his Start - which unfortunately is 0. Next turn he can use his ACC as he did not stall (which would be equivalent to a spin).

Next plot due Wednesday, 9 June @ 4 PM ET (US).

So a correction already on Turn 1. Chris B asked to push to 80, but his car has a Start of 20, so he can only push to 40.

The places him back 2 spaces, outside of Mike and inside of Bruce.

The other car affected is Mario. He pushed to 80, but there's nowhere for him to go, so he is forced to late brake for 1w.

No change to deadline. For some of you, you may want to change your plot.

Stephen takes the 80 line at 120 for 2w.

Tim follows at 100 for 1w and with the slip pulls behind Stephen.

Jim takes the line at 100 for 1w.

Doug takes the middle 80s at 100 for 1w.

Chris starts at 120 then late brakes (1w) and grabs the line at 100 (1w), pulling into P4.

Jeff runs into the line at 120.

Bruce mashes the gas and gets to 140, grabbing the line and P7.

Mike also slams down the go pedal, pushing ACC to get to 120 (1sk = 5 OK) and pulls into the middle lane.

Chris B. does 120 without any drama and pulls to the outside of Mike behind Bruce. (Your instructions were not updated from the mis-placement, so I tried to follow what seemed to be your intent.)

Mario speeds up to 100 and gets a slip.

John also gets up to 100.

Don finally forces his car into gear and moves off at 80.

The temporary inside/outside is no longer in effect.

Next plot due Friday, 11 June @ 4 PM ET (US).

Correction - Mario is one space further, right in front of Bruce. This also places him in P7, ahead of Jeff.

No change to deadline.
