Starting bids are in with three ties. I didn't consider what to do about tie-breakers so we begin the game, ironically, with dice rolls

Paul Ricard is very confusing to look at from an aerial view, especially with all the psychedelic blue and red lines. The picture below shows the part of the track you are entering (the starting line is in the bottom right). I drew a circle around the Verriere corner. Honestly, I'm not sure which route you're taking through it...

pic Turn 2a.png

Turn 2 Summary

Peeples is through Verriere on the green at 140. Fritz pushes to 140 and pulls even with the bonus.

Tatum is still all alone at 120.

Walling pushes to 120 and grabs the racing line. Puddifoot, also at 120 goes inside rail.

Brandt eases up the track at 100.

Kennard pushes to 120 and is astride the M&M's car. Harley tucks in at 100.

Rae brings up the rear at 80.

We have our first challenge (or slot) pass, creating a 4-wide on the track!

Turn 3 Summary

Peeples and Fritz take turns knocking down 2 wear at 120 in the chicane. FYI - that corner is named Virage de l'hotel after the Grand Prix Hotel & Restaurant sited on the other side of the runway. Yes, Paul Ricard has it's own airport!

Tatum moves towards the chicane at 140.

Walling gets initiative at 160. He burns a wear through the esses de la verriere and grabs the bumper on the black #1. Puddifoot saves his wear at 100 and unbeknownst to him, will form the foundation of a very interesting track blockage.

Brandt and Kennard take turns on the Verriere green line at 140 and re-set to form a three-wide on the track.

Harley, at 140 and the bonus, decides to make room in the three-wide with a challenge pass (1 skill). Oh, this will be interesting...

Rae enters the esses at 140 on the line for free.

Turns 5 and 6, known as Saint Baume, is the jumping off point for the long straight.

pic Saint Baume sm.jpg

Turn 4 Summary

Peeples runs the St. Baume 80's for a wear at 100. Fritz, also at 100, spends a wear and gets pushed to the outside.

Tatum knocks down a wear at 100 in the Virage de l'hotel 80's and sets up St. Baume on the outside. Walling, at 120, burns 2 wear in the Virage for inside position and 3rd place.

Harley is determined to get initiative at 160 and indeed he does. He late brakes to 120 with a wear and 2 skill then drops another wear in the 100's.

Brandt goes next at 120, spending 2 wear i the Virage de l'hotel 80's. Kennard, also at 120, sees no great options. He late brakes with 2 skill before spending a wear in the Virage 80's.

Puddifoot, at 100, rolls into the Virage 100's for free.

Rae, at 140, watches events unfold in front of him with interest.

L'ecole is just a notation on Doug's track - you're in full throttle and the kink doesn't slow you down coming out of Saint Beaume. Here is the view from l'ecole towards the Mistral. Note that we do not use the chicane jutting out to the left so you can blast right through those orange cones.

view from l'ecole.png

Turn 5 Summary

Peeples maxes out his engine at 160 through l'ecole. Fritz pushes his engine to 140 with 2s and still can't keep up with the leader.

Walling burns 2 wear on the inner rail of the St. Beaume complex at 100. Tatum, at 100, drops a wear before tucking in on the #46.

Brandt stays inside on St. Beaume at 100 for 2 wear to clear.

Kennard, at 100, clips a tire via the 60 in the chicane (he banked one last turn) then two more in the St. B. 60. He ends on the outer rail but can accelerate next turn. Harley drops to 100 and finishes Virage via the 80's. He then deposits 2 wear in the St. B. 60 spot. He can also accelerate next turn into either lane.

Puddifoot conserves wear by dropping to 80 in the Virage de l'hotel. Rae, at 80, clears the chicane for free.

Turn 6 Summary

Peeples & Fritz high-tail it down the 1.8 kilometer straight at 160 each.

Walling is up to 160 through l'ecole. Tatum stays attached to his bumper at 160, waiting for the DRS zone.

Brandt drops the hammer to 180 and pulls in on the conga line.

Kennard ramps the engine up to 140 with wear already paid. Harley stays inner rail as he bumps to 120, also with wear paid.

Puddifoot drops a wear at 100 in the 80's. Rae tosses 2 wear in St. Beaume at 120 to pull even with the white machine.

The cars are flying down the Mistral straight towards Signes. Fortunately for some, it's a fast corner.

Turn 7 Summary

Peeples and Fritz continue run one length apart at 160. This time I docked Brent the 2s for top and the 2s from last turn.

Walling kicks into high gear at 180. Tatum, also at 180, uses the double bonus to fly past his benefactor. Also getting the double at 180, Brandt flies up alongside the #46.

Kennard pushes to 180 with 2s. Harley maxes out his engine at 200 to pull even.

Puddifoot and Rae, both at 180, race side-by-side like Cole and Rowdy at Daytona.

Ayrton Senna going into the fencing at Signes after his engine leaked oil onto his back tires (I am not foreshadowing... not yet, anyway):

Turn 8 Summary

Peeples dives into Signes on the line at 140 for a wear. Fritz grabs the Signes line at 140 and is soon to be gobbled up by the big engines.

Tatum goes inside at 180.

Walling, at 180 and the double bonus, moves into 2nd place. He opts for the outer lane. Brandt, at 180, cedes the line in favor of a bumper.

Harley gets the initiative at 200. Kennard pushes top again for 2s and, at 180, tucks in behind the #27.

Rae pushes top to the absolute CFR limit of 220 w/ 2s and creates space from his countryman. At 180, Puddifoot is surprised to find himself all alone.

A three-wide sets up in front of the toughest corners on the track...

Turn 9 Summary

Peeples finishes out Signes at 140. Walling burns a wear at 160 on the outer rail.

Tatum drops two at 140 to pull alongside the #46. Fritz, also at 140, clips a tire on the line and sets up the aforementioned 3-wide.

Brandt cruises through the Signes 120's for free at 120 and the bonus.

Harley deposits a wear at 140 on the Signes line. Kennard, at 140 and the bonus, dives into the middle lane for a wear.

At 180 each, Rae and Puddifoot set up the Signes line.
