The grid just before the lights go out.

T1.png
T1: Six of nine push. Doug rolls boxcars with 1 skill from the pole. Stall! This is pretty indicative of both his race and the dice in general tonight.

T2.png
T2: Renaud attempts a forced pass on Russ in the Chevrolet corner. Russ blocks and even with aid of the red chip, Renaud can't pull if off. It would have been magnificent!

T3.png
T3: A front threesome of Kevin, Stephen, & Russ forms up.

T4.png
T4: Russ avoids the dice and uses a wear to late brake. A conga line on Central Ave.

T5.png
T5: Kevin gets some separation. More late braking as the field navigates the narrowing track into Cadillac.

T6.png
T6: Doug burns 2 wear on the inside of Cadillac. Mike catches up to traffic too soon for his tastes and late brakes.

T7.png
T7: Kevin clears Pure Michigan and will leap out next turn. No wear burned by the field through Firestone & Lear.

T8.png
T8: Russ spends a wear in Pure Michigan in anticipation of bringing his big engine into play.

T9.png
T9: Russ drops the hammer. Brent spends to move through the field. Mike gets the bonus just as the track goes wide.

T10.png
T10: Some wear spent in Corvette. Brent pulls Mike along The Strand.

T11.png
T11: More tires claimed in AutoTrader. The back-markers are stacked & packed in front of Corvette.

T12.png
T12: Kevin will jump out again as he clears Continental. Doug's brakes squeal, whine, & spew parts. Doug is not happy with the dice.

T13.png
T13: Lots of tires come off through this very tight part of the course.

T14.png
T14: Stephen has his eyes on Kevin, spending big through Motor City. Brent & Mike clog up Continental.

T15.png
T15: Russ, once again, hauls out the big engine.

Wear count as the leader crosses into lap 2.

Mike: 19
Kevin: 11
Stephen: 16
Brent: 16
Rando: 15
Renaud: 15
Joe: 13
Doug: 16
Russ: 5

T16.png
T16: Kevin clears the Chevrolet corner complex. Stephen opts out of the line for position.

T17.png
T17: Stephen's shenanigans surprise not just Russ but Rando as well, coming in hot. Edit: I had no intent to disparage Stephen's move. It was smart, clean, and I take no issue with it.

T18.png
T18: Mike grabs the initiative over Brent then late brakes to clear Chevrolet. Brent not happy.

T19: Rando joins the primary chase group.

T20.png
T20: Rando in 2nd!

T22.png
T22: Stephen clears Pure Michigan and will separate from Rando. Mike spends to gain a turn. Brent honorably stays out of the way during his recovery.

T23.png
T23: The leaders are out on The Strand. Russ readies his engine, once again.

T24a.png
T24: Stephen pressures the race leader. The back markers splinter.

T25.png
T25: Stephen spends big and continues to put pressure on Kevin. Russ's brakes are compromised by the dice gods. Doug's engine spits out black smoke as he tries to push his smallish engine.

T26.png
T26: Kevin & Stephen are neck and neck. Mike spends two through Corvette & Autotrader.

T27.png
T27: Stephen grabs the race lead! Doug drops two in Corvette.

T29.png
T29: Kevin pushes his engine for the outright lead. Rando clears Motor City.

T30.png

Wear count as the start of lap 3.

Mike: 11
Kevin: 4
Stephen: 6
Brent: 11
Rando: 7
Renaud: 7
Joe: 9
Doug: 3
Russ: 0

T31.png
T31: Kevin & Stephen chip off wear in the battle for first. The rest of the field is spread out. Mike drops the hammer.

T32.png
T32: Kevin get out front again. Brent plays catch-up.

T33.png
T33: Kevin and Stephen are side-by-side again, with Stephen on the inside.

T34.png
T34: The battle for first continues. Rando late brakes to save wear (thank goodness for skill). Russ drops the hammer again but was that wise?

T35.png
T35: Catastrophe strikes! With no wear, Russ can't slow down enough before getting into Cadillac. He comes in too hot and crashes through the tire barrier. Doug goes to the well once too often on his beleaguered engine and it gives up the ghost.

T36.png
T36: Mike spends big to challenge Rando. I think that wear for Renaud is a late brake for position.
