Turn 1 Summary

A short sprint up Boulevard Albert Ier, to the tight Sainte-Dévote corner, named after a small church just beyond the barriers. This is a nearly 90-degree right-hand bend usually taken in first or second gear.[6] This corner has seen many first lap accidents, although these are less common since the removal of the mini roundabout on the apex of the corner before the 2003 event, making the entrance to the corner wider.

Mike:
Race leader Lindo jumps off the pole at 60 and grabs the racing line into Sainte-Devote. Michael (in the Pace Car?) sets the pace!

Chris:
Bernie burns up the short straight at 60 also and chooses to end in the Middle lane. This enables Chris to still grab the corner racing line next turn.

Brad:
Brad decides he's not going to be a BA quite yet and stays with the group 60 mph SS racing plan…. He ends in the Inside lane.

Steve:
Steve’s Monster truck, I mean car…. has an Achilles heel – argh that 20 SS…. Rather than test SS – he opts to save his smaller pile of Wear and Skill for later – and goes a sedate 20mph. He moves toward the inside finishing in the middle lane. Slipstream however left the door open for Ed….

Ed:
Ed won’t be spyin Steve’s bumper no more next turn… Ed provides a bit of excitement at the start by successfully testing his SS to 80. He races past Steve on the inside and moves into 4th place. This is gonna really help Ed next turn as he’ll be able to now move before Steve.

Tip - Remember racers, at the same speed AND in the same row side by side (no racer is more forward on the track), the more inside racer gets to move first!

Turn 2 Summary

The cars then head uphill along Avenue d'Ostende, before changing down for the long left-hander at Massenet. The maximum gradient in this part of the circuit is around 12%.

Race leader gets Bold!

Mike
Race leader Lindo gets bold indeed! He barely keeps the car on the track as he careens through the tight Sainte-Dévote corner at 120mph (wow!) and ends inside. This move required an Acceleration Test first to get to 120mph and then 2 Wear and a Chance roll (120 in a 60mph space – corner racing line 40).

He 1st successfully tested his Acel (40 to 60mph) using 1Skill-final modified roll 2. Ah no problem it’s a red Ferrari!
He then passed his Chance roll-final modified roll of 6 (great use of that 3Skill chip).
He waves arrivederci to the pack…

Chris
Watching Mike fade in to the distance, Chris plots 80mph and drops a Wear driving a more sensible (and safe…) speed through Sainte-Dévote. He remains in 2nd in front of the chase pack.

Brad
Brad likes what he sees Chris doing and plots the same. BA swings wide to pick up and use the Sainte-Devote racing line also. He efficiently runs the corner and plops a Wear into the devotion basket – his reward in heaven should be great….. He remains behaved in 3rd.

Ed
Looks like Ed will soon be spyin Brad’s black Mercedes bumper. Ed continues his drive to catch up to those front 3 with a 100mph and 2 Wear plot. He deftly clears Sainte-Dévote corner and can accelerate down the straight next turn. Maybe his Monte Carlo race simulation is working?

Steve
Steve’s got the horses and proves it moving this turn! With that 80 Acel he races down the straight with a 100mph plot and eats up the gap (what gap he says?). He sets up the Sainte-Dévote racing line for next turn.

Turn 3 Summary

Here comes the long left-hander Massenet !

Mike
Lindo slows the red Ferrari to 80mph and relaxes through the Massenet corner on the racing line for no/nada/zippo Wear. Of course he takes the time to wave, check out the casino and charm up the spectators.

Can’t do 2 Wear and Chance plots every turn… Ah still in 1st….

Chris
Burnout Bernie correctly anticipates Michael ending on the Massenet racing line exit 60mph space. He upshifts and gets the ponies to 120mph. Then he swings inside to grab the racing line and cruises up to the corner ending Inside. No wear needed. This rookie driver is learning – remains in 2nd.

Brad
Brad apparently is saving his gigantic pot of Wear and Skill for later use… once again he copies Chris and plots the same - 120mph. BA swings wide to pick up and use the Massenet racing line. He foregoes the slip and stays/ends on the line. BA is behaved in 3rd.

FYI on Slip - Brad was immediately behind Chris at the turn start. Chris went 120mph and was not in a corner space. Brad went the same or less speed as Chris. Brad could have taken a slip (always optional) – a 1 space (driver in front goes 120-160mph) forward move - at the end of Brad’s plotted 120mph/6 space movement. The only space available for Brad to take the Slip would have taken him off the racing line, but would have put him in the same row as Chris on the Outside lane.

Ed
Ed plots 120mph, grabs the racing line and yep spy’s the black Mercedes bumper. He remains in 4th caught right up to the front 3 headed into Massenet.

Steve
Steve couldn’t clear the Sainte-Dévote last turn and so with this plot he slides the yellow Renault through the Sainte-Dévote corner at 80mph on the pay a Wear plan. There is a 2 car length gap up to the orange McLaren – but a complex of slow corners looms up ahead.

Turn 4 Summary

Out of Massenet, the cars drive past the famous Casino before quickly reaching the aptly named Casino Square. This leads to the tight Mirabeau corner, which is followed by a short downhill burst to the even tighter Fairmont Hairpin (was known as the Station Hairpin before the hotel was opened on the site in 1973; the hairpin's name changed depending on the name on the hotel).[7] It is a corner which has been used for many overtaking maneuvers. It is so tight that many Formula 1 teams must redesign their steering and suspension specifically to negotiate this corner.

Mike
Race leader Lindo keeps the pressure on and gaps the chase pack with an 80mph and 2 Wear move through Mirabeau. He ends on the line for the Fairmont Hairpin.

Chris
Bernie uses that well balanced engine to slow to 60mph. The rookie sets up Mirabeau in the Inside lane. Chris remains in 2nd because he’s inside Brad on the same row.

Brad
Brad gets a little BA on as he slides up next to Chris in the Middle lane with an 80mph no Wear plot. He sets up a challenge for next turn - who will go first, Chris or Brad?

Ed
Ed fishes the Massenet line and is sticky on the black Mercedes bumper. He remains in 4th with an 80mph and no Wear plot.

Steve
Steve maintains the 2 car length gap to the orange McLaren with a 100mph and no Wear plot. He puts his Renault on the Massenet line and ends right before the corner. He’s a corner back but closing the Wear gap with the other racers.

Turn 5 Summary

The tight Mirabeau corner is followed by a short downhill burst to the even tighter Fairmont Hairpin (was known as the Station Hairpin before the hotel was opened on the site in 1973; the hairpin's name changed depending on the name on the hotel).[7] It is a corner which has been used for many overtaking maneuvers. It is so tight that many Formula 1 teams must redesign their steering and suspension specifically to negotiate this corner.

After the hairpin, the cars head downhill again to a double right-hander called Portier, named after region of Monaco, before heading into the famous tunnel straight, a unique feature of a Formula One circuit.

Whoa – 2 racers spent Wear this turn!
And Brad and Ed move up the leader board.

And Then There Was Rob
A Driver change! Lindo hits the ejector seat button for Casino Royale and Rob Rund parachutes in. After landing into the driver seat of the red Ferrari… Rob keeps up a race leader pace with an 80mph and 4 Wear move! Wow - his tires took a serious beatn, but the Fairmont Hairpin and Portier corners are now both in the rear view.

Brad
BA mixes it up with Chris and moves the Mercedes 1st with an 80mph plot (though side by side and Chris was Inside – Brad plotted a higher speed). At 80mph he clips a tire (1 Wear) through the Mirabeau 60s and then scrubs off 2 more tires clearing the Fairmont hairpin on the racing line. BA moves into 2nd.

Chris
Chris plotted 60mph and because Brad is now in the way (2 cars cannot occupy the same space) of his 1st choice end spot – he puts the green w/envy Lotus onto his Plan B, moving through the Mirabeau 60s wide for free and ending on the Fairmont Hairpin line. This plot saved him 2 Wear for later, but cost him 2 positions. Chris is now in 4th.

Ed
At 60mph, Ed cuts his McClaren inside through the Mirabeau 40 for a tire and wanted to end on the hairpin line but…. nope Chris is already there. He ends inside in the same row as Chris – so is now in 3rd (but cannot use the hairpin line next turn). What no bumper in front of me?

Steve
Steve in the monster Renault continues his leisure but efficient drive at 60mph. He moves through Massenet for no Wear and puts the yellow machine on the Mirabeau inside corner entrance. Apparently he wants the ponies well rested for the tunnel straight?

Turn 6 Summary

Rob
Rob drops the hammer and Runds down the Tunnel Straight at his 140mph top speed! To do this he 1st had to test and pass an Acel test, from 40 to 60. His modified roll was a 3 (passed – needed 9 or less) – no prblemo. Rob is our race leader.

Brad
BA decides he wants MORE speed coming out of Portier – and so plots a 100mph. He takes the corner wide through the 60s lane and scrapes off 2 tires clearing the corner. He’s now ready to go 140 next turn down the straight. Or will he test his Acel to get to his 160mph Top Speed? BA is in 2nd.

Chris
Chris gets the cat n mouse jump on Ed as he plotted 60mph. He flings the Lotus through the Fairmont corner leaving a Wear of rubber on the line for his trouble. Chris is back up to 3rd.

Ed
In a cautious mood, Ed cuts his McClaren at 40mph inside through the Fairmont Hairpin off the line (he could not use the line as Chris ended on it last turn) and pays 1 Wear. He defensively ends outside covering the end of the Hairpin line (prevents Steve from fully using the line). Ed is in 4th. And Ed is again spyin a bumper…

Steve
Steve plots another 60mph move, knocking down 2 corners in the process. He moves through Mirabeau and the Hairpin scrubbing off a tire in each corner. 1 more corner before the monster Renault hits the Tunnel Straight….

Turn 7 Summary

Tearin it up, down the Tunnel!

Rob
Rob continues racing down the Tunnel Straight at 140mph top speed! Racer Rund is in 1st. It’s a Ferrari…..

Brad
BA is now in hot pursuit of Rund U Over... After successfully testing his Acel to get to his 160mph Top Speed, brother Brad bombs down the Tunnel with the lights off (show off…). BA is in 2nd. Das auto b rollin now…

Chris
Chris points the Lotus through Portier w/a 60mph plot. He promptly plops 1 Wear down and finishes Inside on the straight. Chris in 3rd is also ready the let his engine breath free.

“Wait a min… wtf is that orange McClaren doing beside me again?”

Ed
Bumpa boy tossed caution out the passenger door this turn and pushes through the Portier corner at 80mph on the inside. He scrapes off 2 tires. As Chris is already in the Inside lane space, Ed takes the Middle lane and sets up yet another challenge with Chris. Ed is in 4th.

Steve
Steve plots another (3 for you counting home gamers…) 60mph efficient move, clearing Portier on the inside for 1 Wear. The MONSTER Renault finally makes the Tunnel Straight…. Flying banana next turn???

Turn 8 Summary

3 pack of drivers mix it up in The Tunnel!
Dice gods remain kind.

Rob
The Monte Carlo Chicane does it’s job slowing down (a bit) even the race leader... Rob whips the red machine through the Chicane at 100mph and wears down the treads by 1. Race leader Rob is well, still the race leader….

Brad
Brad is working to close the gap and plots a 120mph. He moves and then parks the Mercedes on the last Inside lane space right before the Chicane. BA puts the lights back on (Safety 1st) going through the Tunnel and is in 2nd.

Chris
Chris stomps on the gas and races down The Tunnel straight at 120mph. He’s been racing the green Lotus hard (side by side and back n forth) with the McClaren most of Lap 1 (the 2 cars are set up similar)… Lotus vs McClaren - this time M…. Chris slips to 4th.

Ed
Ed mashes his go pedal and slides the orange machine past the Lotus doing 140mph ending Inside. That higher speed he carried out of Portier on the last turn helped (hint to new racers…). Ed moves up a notch to 3rd.

Steve
“Smithers – RELEASE THE HOUNDS!” ... Steve launches his Renault down the Tunnel Straight at 160mph after successfully testing his Acel to 100 (used 2Skill – modified 4)! He sets up a 2-wide with his brothers Chris. I suspect brotherly love is headed out the passenger door next turn…

Turn 9 Summary

Out of the tunnel, the cars have to brake hard for the tight left-right-left Nouvelle Chicane. This has been the scene of several large accidents, including that of Karl Wendlinger in 1994, Jenson Button in 2003 and Sergio Pérez in 2011. The chicane is generally the only place on the circuit where overtaking can be attempted.

Then there is a short straight to Tabac, so called as there used to be a tobacconist on the outside of the corner. Tabac is a tight fourth gear corner. Accelerating the cars reach Piscine, a fast left-right followed by a slower right-left chicane which takes the cars past the Rainier III Nautical Stadium, its swimming pool gives its name to the corner.

Following Piscine, there is a short straight followed by heavy braking for a quick left which is immediately followed by the tight 135 degree right-hander called La Rascasse. This is another corner which requires full steering lock.

3-wide into the Chicane!!!
Rob races into Rascasse!!!

Rob
For the 2nd time in Lap1 the Ferrari drivers have shown off the red machines capabilities and their driving skills – wow! With a second 2 Wear and Chance roll (modified 3=Pass) turn, Rob Runds the red machine through Tabac, Piscine and right into LaRascasse all 3 at 100mph!

The tires took another serious beatn – but so much for slowing down the race leader...

Brad
Brad watches the Ferrari race away and can only wonder if he’s watching the latest Space-X launch… He motivates the Mercedes through the Chicane, Tabac and into Piscine at a sensible 100mph speed. He scrubs off a tire on his run. BA is 2nd.

Ed
Ed with some clear air up front, taps the brakes to 120 and drives the McClaren right up to the Chicane entrance and grabs the Inside lane. Ed’s in 3rd and happy he’s spyin the Inside curb….

Chris
The brothers go at it and Chris (he is the older & wiser brother….) gets the jump on Steve. Bernie in the green machine plots a 140mph - same speed as Steve, but because he’s Inside goes 1st. He runs the straight and leaves the Lotus at the start of the Chicane also - but has to settle for the Middle lane as Ed is already there Inside. Bernie is in 4th.

Steve
Steve in his Renault also finishes off the straight at 140mph and must take the Outside lane at the Chicane entrance – the only space left in the row. Phew - barely enough room at the inn…

3 cars and only 2 lanes after the Chicane – what will Ed, Chris and Steve do?????

Turn 10 Summary

Then there is a short straight to Tabac, so called as there used to be a tobacconist on the outside of the corner. Tabac is a tight fourth gear corner. Accelerating the cars reach Piscine, a fast left-right followed by a slower right-left chicane which takes the cars past the Rainier III Nautical Stadium, its swimming pool gives its name to the corner.

Following Piscine, there is a short straight followed by heavy braking for a quick left which is immediately followed by the tight 135 degree right-hander called La Rascasse. This is another corner which requires full steering lock.

Lap 2 begins!
Madness at Monte Carlo!
Chris & Steve take a Spin Class w/out Ed…

Rob
Rob exits LaRascasse corner at 140mph and races down the straight and across the start/finish line to start Lap 2!

Brad
Brad watches the Ferrari and takes a partial lesson? He wants to save a precious Wear. So… BA plots a 100mph, 1 Wear and Chance move through the LaRascasse 60s outside lane. He makes the Chance with a modified 6 – wow, needed ALL of that 3 Skill chip! Next turn Brad can increase his speed to 120mph through the 80 space – as he has now paid for 40> through the entire corner. BA is 2nd.

Let the madness begin…

Steve
Slipstream in the monster Renault plots a monster 140mph 2 Wear and Chance run through the Chicane... It starts out great as he gets to go 1st – Steve plotted the highest speed in the row. It ends quickly however in disappointment... he screams into the Chicane short route 80 space, can’t hold it and Spins (modified 7 – just missed it).

Steve’s consolation prize is that he gets to create major havoc for Ed and Chris both.
And amazingly after that maneuver, moves into 4th.

Ed
Ed in the McClaren ain’t slowing – as he’s now intent on Spyin BA’s bumpa – he moves next. Ed maintains a 120mph speed and jumps off the row ahead of Chris (Ed is inside Chris – at the same speed he gets to go before Chris)..

But: “Hey wait a min – there is a spun car in the space I must 1st enter - %4*^%&& !!!!!”
As the choices are reduce to crash or Forced Pass – it’s PASS.

The Forced Pass is unblocked – spun cars cannot block.
And Ed’s Plot unexpected events called for 2 Skill use in any pass.
A modified 4 = Success!

He then scrapes off 2 tires in the Chicane and finishes inside at Piscine.

Ed’s in 3rd and VERY, VERY happy he passed successfully (otherwise a crash/outa race)…

Chris
Burnout saw Rob and Brad passing Chance rolls left n right with no worries, says wtf and, tries his own attempt - to save a Wear like Brad just did? The brother in the green machine plots a 120mph, 1 Wear and Chance roll w/a 3 Skill chip through the Chicane. The Lotus loops wide into the Chicane longer route 80 spaces lane (due to Steve being spun inside) and Chris can’t hold it either - he Spins…

Those damned fickle dice gods…. like his brother - (modified 7– again just missed….).
Argh, hurts worse when you burn a 3 Skill Chip….

Burnout Bernie is now in 5th spun out next to brother Steve….

Turn 11 Summary

2 Racers into Lap 2!

Rob
Rob race leader runs the Sainte Devote corner at 80mph (tested Decel w/2Skill, Modified 6=Pass) and scrub a tire off for his trouble. He’s in 1st - a full game turn and race corner ahead of Brad.

Brad
Brad motivates the Mercedes to nose on the start/finish line at 120 and is into lap 2. BA is in 2nd.

Ed
Ed checks off another corner with an 80mph and 2 Wear Plot. He clears LaRascasse corner and is set to go his top speed down the straight! Ed’s in 3rd.

Steve
Slipstream in the Renault moves next and had to Plot a 20mph due to his spin last turn. He ends in Tabac (not smoking)... At least his 80mph Acel will be put to good use next turn! Steve is back to 5th.

Chris
Burnout in the green machine must Plot a 60mph due to his spin last turn. He gets past Steve and ends in Tabac outside (deny Steve any slip possibility). Chris is back into 4th.

Turn 12 Summary

3 Racers now into Lap 2!

Rob
Rob runs the red Ferrari down the Been Rivage straight at 120mph and sets up the Massenet corner. He’s in a groove. And he’s in 1st.

Brad
Brad apexes his Mercedes through Sainte Devote at 80mph and a Wear and is ready to run the Rivage straight. BA is in 2nd.

Ed
Having cleared LaRascasse, Ed runs the start/finish straight at his top speed 140mph and finishes just shy of the Mercedes bumpa. Ed’s in 3rd.

Chris
Burnout bumps the green machine up to 100mph. He gets through Piscine and sets up LaRascasse on the inside. Chris is in 4th.

Steve
Slipstream in the Renault uses all of that 80mph Acel and plots a 100mph turn also. He runs Tabac, Piscine and finds a green bumper at LaRascasse. Steve is 5th.

Turn 13 Summary

The brothers continue to mix it up and scrape paint off each others autos.
These cars are gonna both look like wrecked lemon-lime soda cans by race end!
Whoa – how will they manage the Sainte Devote corner???

Rob
Rob has the red machine Rund-ing right and hitting the corners… At 80 mph he deftly weaves through Massenet/Casino and ends inside at Mirabeau. Shocker not - he’s in 1st.

Brad
BA mashes the Mercedes gas pedal (Acel Test – modified 5=Pass) and races Rivage straight in a blur at 140mph. BA is tryin hard to close the gap – he’s in 2nd.

Ed
Ed slows to 80 mph and drops a Wear in the collection box as he clears the McClaren through Sainte Devote corner. He says a lil devotion on the way by – for some divine intervention on catching Rob and Brad… Ed’s in 3rd.

Chris
The Burnout clips a Wear at 80mph weaving through the LaRascasse corner 60s and heads onto the straight in the Inside lane. Good thing - because hot on his bumpa is brother Steve. Chris is in 4th.

“Damn thought I left him Piscine….”

Steve
Also at 80mph, Slipstream pushes his yellow machine inside through the LaRascasse corner 40/inside lane and tries to dive inside on Chris. No dice though… Chris is already there. Steve is pushed wide into the Middle lane. Steve is 5th.

Turn 14 Summary

Race leader Rob is outa Wear.
Do BA and Ed have enough Wear/Skill to chase down Rob?
Chris grabs the RL, but Steve is Inside….

Rob
Rob’s red machine eats up Mirabeau and Fairmont Hairpin corners at 60mph, but at the cost of bald tires for the remainder of the race (last 2 Wear). Racer Rob is in 1st.

Brad
BA abuses the brake pedal this time… reining in the Mercedes to 80mph (Decel Test w/1Skill – modified 6=Pass) and ends on the Inside entrance to Mirabeau. BA’s in 2nd.

“I thought I just saw that red Ferrari here…..”

Ed
Ed jacks the orange machine back up to 120mph as he runs the Rivage straight, grabs the RL and ends on the entrance into Massenet. Ed’s in 3rd.

Chris
The Burnout was inside and so goes 1st (Chris & Steve both plotted 140mph). The Lotus leaps down the start/finish straight and grabs the Sainte Devote racing line ending right before the corner. Chris is in 5th again however - as the pesky yellow Renault ends inside him in the middle lane.

“Damn, thought I left him in LaRascasse corner!”

Steve
Also at 140 mph, Steve wanted that racing line bad (too), but not to be… Slipstream pushes the yellow monsta down the straight and using his backup plan dives inside Chris into the middle lane. He has access to both lanes through the SD corner from this middle lane space. Steve with inside position is in 4th.

Turn 15 Summary

Phenomenal Chances!
Cars are strung out along the track now…
Will Steve’s not dropping a Wear in the Sainte Devote collection box come back to haunt?

Rob
Race leader Rob in his red Ferrari makes it look easier than it really is… In a gutsy move, Rob takes a point on Portier at 80mph, requiring a Chance roll as he has bald tires on his ride. No worries… 2 Skill tossed, a modified 5 die roll and a Pass. He clears the corner and is ready to run the tunnel straight. You guessed it – Rob remains in 1st.

Brad
Meanwhile BA in 2nd now abuses the Wear pile, tossing 1 Wear both at Mirabeau and Fairmont Hairpin. A good clear 2 corners in 1 move designed to close on Rob. The Mercedes motivated at 60 mph. BA’s in 2nd. "Wait a sec… Where the hell did that red Ferrari go? It was just here!”

Ed
That devotion back in Sainte Devote apparently worked for Ed! Comin in way fast, he plotted an 80mph, 1 Wear and Chance roll (2 skill tossed at it) through Mirabeau. He fish tails and screeches the McClaren orange machine through the corner barely holding it (modified 6=Pass). He’s now ready to attack the hairpin. Ed’s still racin hard in 3rd.

Chris
Burnout Bernie’s larger Wear pile comes in handy – as he plots an 80mph and 1 Wear move through Sainte Devote. Chris drops a Wear in the collection box and moves the green machine along the RL and ends inside on the Rivage straight. He finally… gains a car length separation on Steve. He’s in 4th.

Steve
Steve passes up the collection box shows off the Renault’s impressive engine and brakes by slowing a whopping 80 – he plots a 60mph move. He deftly weaves his way through the SD 60s and also sets up his run down the Bean Rivage straight.

The crowd senses another challenge coming between the brothers coming at Massenet…
