Apparently the Rapture is going to happen on Saturday.

Anyone getting ready for the imminent end-times? Personally, I've been boning up on the Left Behind series so I know what's in store for us non-believers.

Not worried because I've got the Mayans as interpreted by John Calleman on my side. We're entering a "Day" (the third in the ninth (and final) underworld) in the Mayan cycle -- bad stuff on a planetary scale happens in the "Night" parts of the cycle, so we're obviously going to be fine. Oct 28 2011 here we come!

That said, I've been making sure to get in some extra witchcraft and bacon -- if I'm not getting "brought up", better be left behind for as paganly delicious a reason as possible =P

No worries Danivon, you still get a 2nd chance after the Rapture. The point immediately after is to get the jump on the looting, otherwise all that will be left is cassette tapes and junk.

But what would I be able to loot from people who've been Raptured? And woudn't looting be a pretty big step against me getting that 'second chance'. I may be an atheist, but I'm not a thief. It didn't occur to me to steal from the Raptured, frankly. But then that's because it isn't going to happen.

By the way, are many people who believe in the Rapture aware that it was invented by a Jesuit?

I thought it was invented by Blondie.

Protestants believing in Counter-Reformation eschatology is always good for a chuckle. Or not, as our foreign policy is derived from this. 'Left Behind' is actually pretty useful reading in the sense that millions upon millions of Americans take it verbatim.
