Turn 24 Summary

Harley runs Nordkurve on the green for free at 140. Walling follows, also at 140, and pulls even with the bonus.

Caldwell creeps a bit closer to the leaders at 160 for a wear on the green. Hoyt drops a wear as he gets into Nordkurve on the green at 160.

Costa grabs the green line at 160. Also at 160, Bernhardt stays hard on his bumper. Kay moves up a position at 160 and the bonus. He's off the green but has access to both red lines.

Schipper keeps the pace at 160 and the bonus, demonstrating the benefits of having personal defaults in place. He stays on Kay's tailpipe. Harrington pulls into the exhaust of the red machine at 160.

Kubala slams the gas pedal to 140 and careens around Sudkurve for 2 wear. Dygert, at 120, clips a tire in the outer rail. Puddifoot pays 2 wear at 120 on the inside to pull even with the #3.

Turn 25 Summary

Phil grabs the initiative and the lead at 120, burning 2 wear in Einfahrt. Harley clips one tire at 100 and tucks in behind his running mate.

Caldwell joins the party, dumping 2 wear in Einfahrt. Hoyt flies into the corner at 140 with 2 wear and his last skill chip on the chance (modified 2).

Costa drops a wear on the Nordkurve green line at 160.

Bernhardt takes his 3rd NPR plot of the race for a 2 wear penalty. The RM plot of 140 still gives him initiative as he rounds Nordkurve on the green. Kay runs the inside red line for free at 120 and opts for a bumper.

Schipper grabs a position at 120 and the bonus on the red line. Harrington goes green line at 140 for free.

Kubala drops the hammer to 180 and grabs the green line. Dygert also hits 180 while Puddifoot lays in behind him at 160.

The dice are jumping this morning!

Turn 26 Summary

The lead pack of Walling, Harley, & Caldwell all post 160. The latter two pick up the slipstream.

Hoyt finishes out Einfahrt at 140. Costa, at 140, grabs the dice cup and with his big chip, and rolls on the chance table (modified 5). After 2 wear and some anxiety, he stays with the blue machine.

Bernhardt finds an exit row in Einfahrt at 100, costing a wear. Kay has initiative at 100 - he also completes the corner via the 60 spot at 2 wear. Schipper gives up the chase at 80 and goes outer rail for free.

Harrington dives into the Einfahrt 60 at 120 for 2 wear and 2s on the chance roll (modified 7). He.. just.. can't.. hold.. it.. SPIN.

Kubala runs the Nordkurve green for free at 140. Dygert drops a wear on the same line at 160. Puddifoot stays with the red machine at 140 and the bonus.

Clusters of cars spread out along the backstretch...

Turn 27 Summary

Walling and Harley trade paint down the straight at 160. Caldwell goes three-wide at 160 and the bonus. Exciting times!

Hoyt and Costa roll through the Parabolika at 160 with the latter eschewing the slip.

Kay pushes his engine w/ 1s (modified 7) and drops the hammer to 180. Bernhardt, at 160, pulls into his draft.

Harrington recovers from his spin at 20 and will soon be left behind. Schipper finishes out Einfahrt at 80.

Kubala scrapes off 2 wear at 120 in Einfahrt & passes the red machine. Dygert also posts 120 for 2 wear. Puddifoot completes the 120 troika for 2 wear and opts to get behind the bigger engine of the AAA Chevy.

Turn 28 Summary

Harley gets the initiative at 140. He late brakes w/ 1s (modified 6) and runs the 80/red line combination for 2 wear. Walling goes next at 120. He also late brakes w/ 1s (modified 4) before dropping 2 wear on the primary racing line. At 120, Caldwell releases 2 wear on the outer rail.

Hoyt pulls up to the Hairpin on the line at 140. Costa, at 140 and the bonus, pulls even with the blue machine.

Kay stays hard on the gas and continues at 180. Bernhardt drops the hammer to 180 and flies by his benefactor with the double bonus.

Kubala slams his foot on the gas to 180.

Dygert has initiative at 180 and tucks in on the yellow machine. Schipper, at 160 and the double bonus, pulls even with the Pennzoil Ford.

Puddifoot also gets the double bonus and, at 160, comes alongside the #3 car. Harrington is so demoralized at 80 that he forgets to ask for the slip.

Two NPR's this turn. Please note that reminders are a courtesy only and I do occasionally forget to send them.

Turn 29 Summary

Walling sets up the Mercedes line at 140.

Caldwell takes an RM plot of 160, giving him initiative (NPR #1 - Warning). He plugs the outside hole. Harley makes it a three-wide going into Mercedes at 140 and the bonus.

Hoyt burns 2 wear on the Hairpin line. Costa runs the secondary racing line at 100 for a wear.

Bernhardt plots 120 before late braking w/ 1s (modified 6). He drops 2 wear on the line and moves up the leaderboard. Kay clips 2 tires on the secondary line to clear the Hairpin.

Kubala grabs the Hairpin line at 160. Schipper takes an RM plot of 160 and slots to the outside (NPR #1 - Warning).

Dygert, at 180, sets up another three-wide. At 160 and with no space to use the slip, Puddifoot settles in behind the yellow machine.

Harrington brings up the rear at 140.

The front three are out of tires and the race has a new leader!

Turn 30 Summary

Caldwell has the initiative at 120. He bumps his last 2 wear and takes the race lead. Harley, at 100, grabs the dice cup for a chance roll with his last skill chip (modified 5) He careens around the inside of Mercedes and tosses his last wear. Walling, with the line effectively useless to him, goes outer rail at 100 for his last wear.

Hoyt flies into Mercedes on the line at 120 for 2 wear. Bernhardt grabs the line at 120.

Costa goes wide of the black machine at 140. Kay tucks in behind the #43 at 140.

Dygert burns 2 wear in the Hairpin 60's and sits on the line. Kubala, line taken, also runs the 60's for 2 wear.

Schipper over brakes w/ 2s (modified 2) down to 100 and rides the outer rail for a wear. Puddifoot, at 100, scrapes off 2 wear in the 60's.

Harrington readies the Hairpin on the line at 160.

Turn 31 Summary

Caldwell, at 120, cedes the lead to occupy the Sach's racing line. Harley slots to the inside for the race lead at 100.

Walling, at 100, switches bumpers. Hoyt pays the 2 wear cover and joins the party at 160.

Costa has the initiative at 100. He drops his last wear and mistakenly (?) asks for the outside. Bernhardt runs the Mercedes line at 80 and gets to maintain his position. Kay hangs with the crew at 80 on the line.

Kubala grabs the Mercedes line at 120. Dygert, also at 120, goes inside.

Puddifoot makes it a three-wide going into Mercedes at 140. Schipper grabs the bumper on the white machine at 120.

Harrington tosses 2 wear in the Hairpin.

Lots of dice & a new race leader!

Turn 32 Summary

Harley plots 80 and grabs the dice cup for the naked chance roll (natural 4). He keeps the car on the track and maintains 1st place... for now. Caldwell runs the Sachs line at 80 for free.

With the initiative, Hoyt scrapes away his last 2 wear on the Sachs line. In anticipation of the roadblock, he was ready with a forced pass (natural 7). He squeezes through and takes over the race lead. Walling, at 80, rolls around Sachs on the line for free.

Bernhardt sets up the Sachs line at 120. Costa plays it slow at 100 and tucks in behind the #43, on the line. Kay moves up two positions at 120 and the bonus.

Puddifoot has the initiative at 120. He knocks off 2 wear in Mercedes and spits at the Mobil1 line, opting inside. Dygert clips a tire at 80 and grabs the bumper on the Miller Lite Ford. Kubala runs Mercedes for free on the line at 80.

Schipper takes an RM plot of 80, on the line for free (NPR #2 - 1w penalty). Unfortunately, he has no wear to pay the penalty and spins at the end of his turn. Harrington also takes an RM plot (NPR #1 - Warning), setting up the line at 120.

Turn 33 Deadline: Monday, December 28th @ 7 a.m. EST (12 noon UTC)

A bold chance roll and a tactical error puts the win in reach for Caldwell.

Turn 33 Summary

Hoyt slows to 80 and clears the final corner. The slow speed leaves an opening...

Caldwell gets the initiative at 120. He tosses in his last skill on a chance roll (modified 6), just making the roll. He pulls even with the blue machine with the speed advantage.

Harley plays it safe at 100 and tucks in behind Hoyt. Walling also safe plays the turn at 100, leaving the big chip in his stable.

Bernhardt burns a wear at 100 on the Sach's line. Kay slows to 60 for a free ride through the corner and blocks the line. Costa had his eyes on the line at 80 but must brake down to 60 to avoid a chance roll, using his last skill (modified 4).

Puddifoot takes the Mobil1 at 100 before setting up the Sach's line.

Kubala gets the initiative at 140. He late brakes before Mobil1 with 2s (modified 5), takes the line, then runs up to Sachs on the inside. Dygert, at 120, rolls to the outside of Mobil1 for free.

Schipper recovers from his spin at 20. Harrington takes down 2 wear in Mercedes, on the line.

Turn 34 deadline: Monday, December 28th @ 2 p.m. EST (7 p.m. UTC)

Caldwell wins!

Turn 34 Summary

Jeff pushes to 180 (naked 9) and with a little hesitation, the car responds. That gives him the initiative and the checkered flag. Hoyt successfully pushes to 160 (naked 8) for 2nd place.

Harley takes 3rd with at 160 and the bonus. Walling crosses in 4th at 160, a 'no roll necessary' push with the big chip in play.

Bernhardt burns his last wear at 120 on the outer rail. Kay topples his last 2 wear at 120 on the inside and sets up behind the #43.

Costa runs Sudkurve at 100 for free.

Puddifoot gets the initiative at 100 and runs the Sachs line for a wear. Kubala clips a tire at 80 and tucks in behind the white machine.

Dygert saves his wear and takes the Sachs line for free at 80.

Harrington plays catch up at 120 and clears Sachs for 2 wear. Schipper puts 2 skill down on an Accel test but the dice gods are feeling frisky (modified 10). Ouch - engine damage.
