Lap 2 comes to the expected end.

Turn 30 summary:
Mossman, Rae and Pellegrino all at 160, Rae taking a slip.
Marvin is assumed to finish...eventually

Next deadline: Second interval activity due (soft) Friday, August 14
(hard) Monday, August 24 at 4pm EDT/8pm UTC

Also attached is the initial grid for lap 3, pending interval activities of course.

If either Peeples or Rae win lap 3, they will be the champion.
If Mossman wins the lap he would need Rae to be 3rd or lower and Peeples to be 5th or lower.
If Pellegrino wins the lap he would need Peeples to be DNF and Rae to finish 4th or 5th.
Neither Marvin nor Benham can win the championship.

Note: Pellegrino told me a few turns ago he will be on holiday until the 22nd. I don't know if he's getting emails or will have time to do game turns. Since this is a fun exhibition race, I'll set soft deadlines until then and the hard deadline the following Monday. Fabio, if you're getting this, do what you can, but enjoy yourself first.

Second interval activities

Benham repairs his crash damage and brakes.
Marvin moves 1 point from skill to wear.
Pellegrino moves 1 point from acceleration to deceleration.
Mossman moves 1 point from start speed to wear.
Rae moves 1 point from start speed to acceleration.
Peeples moves 1 point from start speed to wear.

The net result is: Benham moves to the rear of the grid, everyone else moves up one position.

Next deadline: turn 33 due Wednesday, August 19 (soft)

And lap 3 begins with a bang, literally

Turn 33 summary:

Marvin decides not to push his crippled engine.
Pellegrino also does not push so the front row remains side-by-side.
Rae pushes his already massive acceleration to 140 and slips into the lead.

Mossman does 100 and tucks in behind the blue car.
Peeples is the other massive acceleration and he pushes to make it three wide already.
Benham punches the gas and doesn't need to see the smoke, the bang tells him all he needs to know.
(The dice gods have not been kind to him this race)

Several different approaches to the corner 2/3 combination

Turn 34 summary:
Rae slows to 100 and sheds two wear in the 60s.
Marvin is also two wear lighter after flying into the 100s at 140.
Peeples scrubs off one wear in the 100s behind the blue race car.

Pellegrino at 100 surrenders two wear to the 60 lane.
Mossman gets a slip allowing him to carry his 100 move into the 80s for one wear.
Benham commits to the inside lane at corner entrance.

No surprises this turn as the five in the corners just continue their wear

Turn 35 summary:
Rae hold a steady 100 to finish the 60s.
Marvin gets his machine slowed to 80 for the inside of corner 3.
Pellegrino finishes the 60s and pulls even with Marvin.

Peeples slows to 60 to negotiate the corner 3 inner lane.
Mossman shifts to the 60s and is now beside Peeples.
Benham wanted the 60s at 80. He moves one space at 80 dropping one wear, then uses another to late brake and finish the 60s as there is no room to complete the move.

Three-wide into the hairpin next turn, who comes out where?

Turn 36 summary:
Rae gets to the corner first and starts the racing line.
Marvin opts for the inside lane and a probably temporary grab of P1.
Pellegrino only has the outside lane open for his 120 move.

Peeples tucks in behind Marvin at 140.
Mossman matches his move and grabs Rae's wing.
Benham pushes his acceleration to stay in touch with the pack.

Everyone makes it safely around the hairpin

Turn 37 summary:
Rae drops two wear on the racing line and establishes a one car-length lead.
Pellegrino trades two wear in the 60s for P2.
Marvin slows to 80 also putting out two wear around the inside.

Peeples sheds two wear on the line to recreate a three-wide.
Mossman plotted 100 but there's no room for that move. A tap of the brakes and one wear on the line puts him behind the "wall".
Benham conserves wear at 60 on the line.

The pack stays intact with the tight corner 9/10 combination looming

Turn 38 summary:
Rae is steady at 100 through corner 8.
Peeples gets the initiative at 140 then brakes to 120 on the line for free but not without consequence.
Pellegrino keeps even with Peeples at 120 through the 120s at no cost.

Marvin does 120, waving the point leaders past to let them duel it out.
Mossman runs the racing line at 120.
Benham pushes to 120 and starts the line behind Mossman.

A new lap leader after a bold move

Turn 38 summary:
Rae slows to 60 around the racing line in an attempt to disrupt those in pursuit of him.
Peeples anticipates that move and, after a late brake, drops one wear in the 80s at 100 to pull even.
Pellegrino, not to be outdone, flies into the inside lane at 100 for two wear and forces his way past Rae for the lead.

Marvin pulls back into the pack at 100 on the outside for one wear.
Mossman slows to 60 and starts the line.
Benham holds at 120 taking the corner 8 120s then jamming his car into the corner 9 80s shedding two wear.

turn 41 could be pivotal as the leaders negotiate the corner 11/12/13 combination

Turn 40 summary:
Pellegrino at 120 takes the middle lane
Rae is off the corner before Peeples and chooses the outside.
Peeples is left with the inside lane and, technically, the lead for now.

Marvin finishes the 80s at 100 and moves inside.
Benham follows the dark blue machine at 120 and pulls even.
Mossman is NPR, running the racing line at 80 and finishing inside.

Next deadline: turn 41 due Monday, September 7 (soft), Wednesday September 9 (hard) at 4pm EDT/8pm UTC
NOTE: Monday is a holiday in the U.S. (Labor Day). If I have all moves I will adjudicate.

The leaders are through the ugly combination but a big move adds one car to the lead pack

Turn 41 summary:
Peeples is first through the 40/80 at 80 shedding two wear.
Pellegrino is one wear lighter after taking the 60/80 at 80.
Rae is also at 80 and also drops one wear in the 60/80.

Marvin flies into corner 11 at 120 knocking off two wear and is thankful that his car stays attached to the asphalt.
Benham runs into the 60s at 100 for two wear and the ability to accelerate next turn.
Mossman takes the middle lane at corner entrance to keep his options open.

Plenty of pushing this turn; all pass

Turn 42 summary:
Peeples taxes his engine to reach 180 and maintains P1.
Pellegrino pushes to 160 and gets the double slip to pull even with Peeples.
Rae also pushes acceleration and top speed to reach 180, staying on the green car's wing.

Marvin keeps to his engine's ability but the double slip keeps him in the pack.
Benham finishes the 100s at 140, wear paid.
Mossman is through the 60s/80 at 100 for two wear.

The top 3 line up approaching the tight corner 14

Turn 43 summary:
Peeples backs down to 160 to not tax his engine further.
Pellegrino keeps in step at 160.
Rae pushes to 180 and makes it 3-wide.

Marvin holds a steady 160 to keep with the pack.
Benham pushes to 180 and makes up a car length on the leaders.
Mossman hits the straight at 160.

A lot of hard work goes up in (tire) smoke as the leader spins in the hairpin

Turn 44 summary:
Peeples starts at 120 then brakes onto the line for his final wear and a naked chance roll, that does not turn out well.
Rae also starts at 120. His late brake carries him into the 60s for his final two wear.
Pellegrino plots 100 and brakes to 80 on the racing line.

Marvin slows to 100 and chooses to run outside of Pellegrino.
Benham makes up a lot of ground at 160.
Mossman also covers most of the straightaway at 160
