Schipper slams the gas pedal w/ 1s (modified 4)and gets a bonus at 120. He tucks in behind the #96. Puddiffoot pulls in behind the red Chevy at 140.

Walling burns 2 wear in the chicane at 100. At 80, Bernhardt drops 1 wear and falls a car length back on the black Chevrolet.

Bit of a mess, this one.

Turn 31 Summary

Kubala hits the accelerator to 140. Dygert clips a tire at 80 in Tarquardo.

Hoyt gets initiative at 120. He careens into the Tarquardo 60's for 2 wear and a chance roll (naked 11). Crash!

Note: Both Kay & Harrington have to attempt a crash avoidance test at -3. Without specific instructions or personal defaults in place, maximum skill is put on the roll. Schipper also attempts a test but has defaults in place for 2 skill.

Kay burns 2 wear at 100 in the Targuardo 60's (Crash avoidance w/ 3s = 4; pass). Harrington knocks down 1 wear in the Targuardo 80's (Crash avoidance w/ 2s = 5; pass).

Schipper races into Targuardo at 100 w/ 1w and 2s on the chance table (modified 6). He also passes his crash avoidance test w/ 2s (modified 3). Puddifoot pulls up in front of the corner at 100.

Walling tests top to hit 160 w/ 2s (modified 7). Bernhardt crosses into lap 3 at 140.

Ricaud finishes out Rivazza on the line at 60.

Phil gets bold...

Turn 32 Summary

Kubala eases his way through Villeneuve at 100.

Dygert pulls up in front of Villeneuve at 100. Kay puts the pressure on at 140.

Schipper finishes out the Tarquardo 60's at 100. Harrington continues on the 80's at 100 and tucks in behind the red machine.

Walling careens through Targuardo at 120 on the 60's, using 2 wear and 3s on the chance roll (modified 1). He's through and moves up the leader board! Puddifoot slows to 60, taking the corner for free.

Bernhardt rams his car through Targuardo at 100 to reach an exit row for 2 wear. Ricaud pulls up to Variante Bassa at 100.

Mater pulls Hoyt's wreck off the track. Mike was reportedly mumbling in the ambulance "it's not my time, Ayrton...", an apparent reference to Ayrton Senna who was tragically killed on the same part of the track 26 years ago.

I just watched a documentary on F1 that was mostly about the evolution of safety in the sport: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2518788/

I've also been watching the Netflix F1 show. Just finished the episode when Nike Lauda died (2019 season). The documentary above had quite a bit about him - his fiery crash, his retirement from the race that gave Hunt the championship, and his safety advocacy. All the history and the personalities in the sport have become quite fascinating to me.

This race just got a lot more interesting...

Turn 34 Summary

Kubala pushes his engine w/ 2s, not a very risky roll with a 97% success rate. The dice gods say no (modified 10), he replots to 120, and takes some engine damage.

Dygert burns a precious wear on the Tosa line at 80. Kay follows on the line, also at 80. Can he leverage all that wear into a win?

Walling dumps half his wear into the Tosa 40. Schipper pulls up at 60 and takes the line.

Harrington rolls outside at 100. Puddifoot tucks inside of the red machine at 100. Bernhardt, at 120, goes wide in Villeneuve before setting up the Tosa line.

Ricaud makes it into lap 3 at 120.

Kubala had opened up his lead at the line, that was before the engine damage.

A bold move from Bernhardt comes up just short...

Turn 35 Summary

Kubala runs the Piratella line for free at 100.

Dygert pulls up to Piratella on the line at 120. Kay pulls alongside at 120 and the bonus. He's in 2nd place and is ready to stalk the leader.

Walling increases speed to 120 in Tosa with wear already paid. Harrington slows to 60 and continues on the outer rail for free.

Puddifoot goes inside on Tosa for a wear at 60. Schipper takes the Tosa line for free at 60.

Bernhardt, at 100, drops to the Tosa 40, burns 2 wear, and puts his big chip into a chance roll (modified 7). He almost makes it around but for one less pip on the dice. For what its worth, he would've made the forced pass in an incredible race move.

Ricaud pulls up to Targuardo at 80.

Two more cars now running on bald tires, one intentionally, one not.

Turn 36 Summary

Kubala burns his last tire at 100 Acque Minerali.

Kay drops a tire in the Piratella 80. Dygert runs the Piratella line for free at 100.

Walling takes the line at 100 for free. Puddifoot grabs the line at 120.

Schipper pushes his engine w/ 1s (modified 11). An unpleasant noise and a bit of smoke comes out of the power plant leaving him at 100. That means Harrington goes first at 120 and grabs the line. Unfortunately, this was an RM plot (NPR #2) so he takes a 1 wear penalty, his last. Schipper now goes at 100 and takes the slip to maintain position.

Bernhardt recovers from his spin at 60. Ricaud eases his way through Targuardo at 60.
