Point 13 was about Poland becoming an independent nation. WWI was largely a war of imperialism, but for many Poles, it was a war of independence. There was chaos in the east at the end of the war, a yawning vacuum filled by violence, but Point 13 gave a newly independent Polish nation legitimacy. If Woodrow Wilson wasn't the father of the modern state of Poland, perhaps he was the midwife? Nice job Woody.
