Lots of dice rolling with start bids, including for the pole. Note that the pole position is on the external perimeter of the track. For those who haven't played with post-AH tracks before, the red/white line indicates the inside of the track for race purposes. Also, for new drivers, you can push your start speed by 20 mph with a dice roll (see table in rules).

Turn 1 Deadline: Wednesday, January 13th @ 12 noon EST (5 p.m. GMT)

Jim - could you let me know where those speed traps are again? I misplaced the email.

The green flag has dropped and they're off! There is a huge mass of cars in the middle that needs to push into the narrow part of the track. This will get interesting really fast...

Turn 1 Summary
Jeff pulls out of the pole at 100. Kevin keeps pace with the #12, also at 100. William stays on the bumper of the Mobil car at 100. Dave falls behind at 60 but leads the chase pack. Tony pushes to 80 with 3sp (modified 5), gets the initiative out of the 3rd row, and pulls alongside the #17.

Chris stays with the DeWalt car at 60. At 100, Tim C. gets the initiative out of row 4 and makes it three wide. Giuseppe pushes to 80 with 3sp (modified 4) and grabs the bumper on the #2. Will finds a spot beside the #94 at 100, making for an interesting turn 2. Jim falls behind the big pack at 60.

Claudio passes the #99 and tucks in behind the #38 at 100. Joe grabs the tailpipe on the Exide car at 60. Rando pushes to 40 with 2sp (modified 2). Tim and John both use their 20 start speeds to bring up the rear.

No problems yet with cars funneling into the narrow part of the track. I've enlarged and relocated the chart, hopefully making it more readable. Note the MLK holiday - we will resume as normal next Wednesday. Enjoy the long weekend!

Turn 2 Summary
Jeff drops a wear at 120 as he passes the Franklin. Kevin saves his wear at 100 and tucks in behind the #12. At 120, William passes the #50 as he spends a wear in the Franklin and with the bonus pulls up next to the Mobil car.

Tony gets the initiative at 140 and grabs the bumper on the flag car. Tim C. moves next, also at 140, to stay on the numbers of the #2. Dave moves last out of his row at 120 and slides in on the tailpipe of the Miller Lite car.

Giuseppe has the initiative at 140 and a roll on the Acc table with 2sp (modified 5). He finds space on the track behind the #24. Chris, at 120, opts to tail the #94 car. Will moves last out of his row at 120 and grabs the inside lane (that half space is usable just like the numbered one in Pennsy).

At 140, Claudio finds some space and grabs the bumper on the #17. Jim keeps up with the peleton at 120 plus the slip and tucks in behind the #6. Joe finishes the conga line behind the #99 at 120 and the bonus.

Rando takes his car to 100, moving to the outside. Tim uses his powerful engine to bring it to 100. John brings up the rear at 80.

More cars crush into the narrow track but no real mishaps. Everyone seems to be taking it pretty easy on the gas pedal so far.

Turn 3 Summary
Jeff, William, Kevin, and Tony all take the Academy line for 1 wear at 100. Tim C. starts the line at 100 but gets bumped off for an additional wear.

Dave hits the Academy line at 100 for a wear, denying access to Giuseppe who diverts to the 80's for a wear. Will misses the line at 100 as he opts for the inside lane in front of the corner. That leaves the line for Claudio, also at 100. Chris is odd man out. He taps the brakes to 80 for a wear and tucks in behind the #18.

Jim pulls up alongside the #38 at 100. Joe hangs with the crowd, also at 100. Rando grabs the bumper on the #5 at 160. Tim B. drops the hammer at 180 and comes even with the #29. John brings up the rear at 140.

Kevin spends a wear to stay on the bumper of the #12 at 100. Tim C. gets aggressive at 120 and has to use the outer lane for a wear. Tony burns a wear at 100 in the Logan 80's and sits on the tail of the #50.

Dave pulls into the Logan 100's for free at 100 and gets the bonus from the #24. Giuseppe maintains 100 to complete Academy then loses a tire in the Logan 80's. Jim gets the initiative at 100, leaves a tire on the Academy line, and jams his car between the #94 and #6.

Chris saves some wear in Academy at 80 on the line. Joe slow plays it as well at 80 as he follows the groove of the #38. At 100, Rando is denied the line so he sheds a wear in the Academy 80's. Tim plots 100 but with the line occupied taps the brakes down to 80 with 1sp (modified 9). He grabs the line for free. John pulls into the Franklin for free at 100.

Turn 5 Deadline: Monday, January 25th @ 8 a.m. EST (1 p.m. GMT)
I suspect I won't be at work Monday nor the kids at school so adjudication may be quite a bit later.

Some bunching in the corners should make for some good racing in the next few turns.

An overall average of about 105.7mph. And we spend how much on these "racecars"?

Thanks for waiting. Adjudications can be a bit elastic on Fridays.

Next turn will be a doozy. Brad B. reminded me of an appropriate saying a while back: "Like trying to shove 10 pounds of @#$% into a 5 pound bag."

Turn 10 Summary
William keeps burning through tires to maintain the lead. Two wear drop in the Annex at 100 on the line followed by Kelly's line for free. Kevin keeps the pace at 100, sheds 2 wear on the Hairpin line, and grabs the next line. Kevin stays just in front of the chase pack, dropping 2 tires on the Annex line at 100.

Dave gets the initiative at 140 then taps his brakes for a wear to 120. He grabs the Annex line. Tony pulls to the inside of the #17 at 120. Claudio squeezes into the half space to the right of the DeWalt car, also at 120.

Tim C. pulls onto the Hairpin line at 120. Giuseppe takes the rail, also at 120.

Chris revs the engine to 160 on the straight. Will gets the initiative at 160 and tucks in behind the #38. Jim keeps pace with the #6 at 140 plus the bonus. Joe keeps his lane at 140 and with the slip finds himself switching bumpers to the Valvoline car.

Tim B. pulls out the horses at 180 and catches the #5 on the numbers. Rando loses contact at 160. John continues to save wear at 100, taking the 22nd St. and inner Pennsy lines for free.

A crowded hairpin and some damaged brakes. It could've been worse...

Turn 11 Summary
William burns another tire at 100 on the Eakins line. Jeff will not be shaken off as he follows the groove of the #8 and a wear. Kevin rockets out of the Annex at 120, takes the Kelly's line for free, and picks up the line on the Oval.

Tony drops 2 wear in the Hairpin 60's at 100 and grabs the next line. Dave sheds 2 wear on the Annex line, passes Tony, and takes Kelly's 100 for free. At 80, Claudio clips a tire in the Annex 60's.

Giuseppe runs the Hairpin 60's for 2 at 100 and pulls up alongside his countryman. Tim C. drops down to 60 for the Annex line and a free ride.

Chris rubs off some brake pad to get down to 100 (1 wear) then rolls into the Hairpin for another 2 wear in the 60's. Will loses 2 tires on the Hairpin line at 100. At 100, Jim misses the line and dumps 2 wear in the Annex 60's.

Tim B. gets the initiative at 120 and comes in hot on the Hairpin. He taps the brakes on the tables with 1sp (modified 10) and overheats the pads for a wear and damage before grabbing the line. Joe stays on the rail for 100.

Rando is back in contact at 120 as he grabs the line ahead. John makes up some ground at 160.

Tony caused a bit of a backup behind him. As this is an exhibition race, I don't mind tossing out some advice. If there is a possibility you might have to brake, there are 2 things to consider: 1) Would there be a route available to burn off some speed (i.e. the 120's in Kelly's Corner)? If so, you must specify that in your plot as a conditional order. 2) Do you want to roll on the brake table? If so, you must ask. Otherwise, wear is taken as the default.

Turn 12 Summary
William takes the Park Towne line for free at 140. Jeff stays on the bumper of the #8, also at 140. Kevin drops a tire on the Eakins line at 100.

Dave burns a wear at 100 on the Eakins line. Tony drops to 80 and sits in the middle of the Eakins line for free.

Claudio hits the accelerator to 120, takes the Kelly's line for free, and pulls into the Eakins 80's for 2 wear. Giuseppe follows the Kelly's Corner groove for free at 120 but with no place to go has to tap the brakes for a wear before pulling into Eakins for another wear.

Tim C. takes the Kelly's line for free at 120 but with a blocked track scrapes off some brake pad for a wear. He sits on the Eakins line. At 120, Will follows the Kelly's groove before finding some space on the rail next to the #24. Chris pulls out of the Hairpin at 120 and also comes out of the Kelly's line to find a traffic jam. He drops a wear on his brakes to avoid the collision.

Jim finishes the Hairpin at 80 and sits on the Kelly's 100. Tim B. gets the initiative at 80, takes the Annex line for a wear, and grabs the next line. Joe saves wear at 60 in the 60's and blocks the line in front of the #29.

Rando's line is blocked so he takes the Hairpin 60's instead for a wear. He grabs the rail to the inside of the #5. John pulls up to the Annex on the line at 120.
