Tim I assume you are going 160, as any sane rational person would do. Correct?

Lots of action and friendly dice this turn! (Heard on Tony's radio: "What the <unintelligible> was that?" I think he said "heck")

Next deadline: turn 17 due Monday, January 11 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 16 results:
Kal scuffs 2 more wear off the tires through Variante Del Rettifino. Brad flies into the chicane at 120mph and hangs on for all he's worth, just barely keeping his machine moving in the same direction it's pointing. Willy also sheds 2 wear and tries to stay with the silver streak. Tim and Rando split to form a queue into the corner.

Tony slows to 140 to set up for the corner and sees a quick flash to his left. It's John hitting 200mph! And he brings Chris along with him at 160 + a 2 space slip. Gatlin and Will both wind their cars up to the top and line up on the inside.

Kal is slowest through sector 3 but fastest overall. Willy in the money in all 3 sectors.

More friendly dice. Kal and Brad get a gap on the rest of the field while the back five try to reform the pack.

Next deadline: turn 18 due Wednesday, January 13 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC (5 hours before the Powerball draw)

Turn 17 results:
Kal uses 2 skill to accelerate to 160 and keeps the gap on Brad who exits the chicane at 160. Willy, Tim and Rando snake through the corner all at 100mph, Tim and Rando dropping 2 wear each. (Willy paid last turn)

John stands on the brakes using 1 wear and 2 skill (mod 4:pass) to get down to 100, shedding 2 more wear in Rettifilo. Chris and Tony join the conga line into the chicane at 100. Gatlin climbs up the inside of Tony at 140. Will takes the slip from Gatlin to complete the siege on the outside.

Will is by far the wear king at this point. When will he decide it's time to use 'em? And when will we see that yellow car use the top end of that powerplant?

Next deadline: turn 19 due Friday, January 15 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 18 results:
Kal enters Variante Della Roggia at 120 spending 2 wear to keep his gap over Brad who slows for the corner and sets up on the racing line. Willy, Tim and Rando all stand on the gas, Tim taking a slip off Willy to pull along side. Rando was unable to slip the slower Red car.

John flies out of Rettifilo with the pedal down to put some distance between himself and the rest of the pack. Chris already spent 2w so is able to continue through the corner at 100. The last 3 all spend 2 wear in the chicane, Tony on the racing line, Gatlin through the 40s and Will through the 60s.

The race sees the first turn with no side-by-side action. We're about halfway through.

Next deadline: Wednesday, January 20 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC
(Note M.L. King holiday Monday, but if I get all moves before Wednesday I will adjudicate)

Turn 19 results:

Kal exits Roggia at a steady 120 and sets himself up to clear Curva Di Lesmo in one move. Brad drops 2 wear in Roggia to keep pace. Willy get the jump on Tim by plotting 120 through the chicane scuffing off 2 wear. Tim anticipates the move and slows to 100 taking a position on the wing of the dark blue machine. Rando starts at 120 but with the racing line blocked late brakes to fall in behind Tim.

John joins up right behind Rando on the line. Chris leads the trailing queue at 160, Tony taking a slip to stay with him. Gatlin uses that 3-skill chip to get to 140 and slips Tony to keep up. (RM note: Since the 3s guarantees success no dice roll was needed.) Will flops back into line at 160.

Note: During the "alternate start" I required drivers to specify a finish lane or just continue straight. However, during this "normal" part of the race remember we are using normal Redscape rules. Therefore the default finish lane is inside. If you don't specify a finish lane you will be placed inside even if the outside would give you an advantage of some kind. (Redscape rule II.B.4.a)

Next deadline: turn 21 due Friday, January 22 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 20 results:
Kal clears the Curva Di Lesmo using a wear through the B side. Brad sets up on the B line after taking the A line safe at 140. Willy drops a wear on the A side and gains a space on Brad. Tim comes out of Roggia and around Lesmo A without abusing his tires while Rando finishes the chicane.

John takes the safe way through Roggia at 80. Chris leads the back four into the chicane at 100 dropping a wear, Tony follows into the corner also using 1 wear. Gatlin takes a number and is next up for the racing line, but Will ducks down inside the green car to temporarily take P9.

Kal stretches his lead by a space, Chris breaks from the rear gang and sets his sights on the middle pack.

Next deadline: turn 22 due Monday, January 25 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC
(Some wiggle room may be granted if the northeast gets slammed as predicted)

Turn 21 results:
Kal hits his top end of 160 around the Curva Del Serraglio. Brad scrubs off 1 wear around Lesmo B. Willy opts to drop 2 wear in Lesmo B and comes up on the outside of the silver machine. Tim plays it safe around B at 140. Rando stays tight through the A side and sets up for the line on the B side.

John makes up his one space deficit on Rando by taking the racing line through Lesmo A. Chris uses his advantage of clearing Roggia last turn to distance himself from the back pack and try to play a little catch up. Tony completes the chicane and sets up for the racing line through the next corner. Meanwhile Gatlin drops 2 wear to pull even with Tony. Will uses 2 wear to keep with them grabbing the tail of Gatlin's green racer.

RM note: Gatlin is NPR this turn. By rule he was accelerated to 140, moved through the 140s in Lesmo A and finished in the outside lane. This caused Tony's and Will's moves to be adjusted as well. In both cases the final move used the same amount of wear or less than originally planned.

Also note that by rule Gatlin CANNOT use the racing line on his next turn since he could not benefit from it on his NPR move.

Next deadline: turn 23 due Wednesday, January 27 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 22 results:
The top three have bunched up as Kal had to slow for the corner and Willy punched up to 180. Brad maxed out at 160 but wisely lined up behind the blue machine. Tim (misplotted?) 140 and is all alone for now. Rando rounds Lesmo B on the line for a wear and heads down the strightaway.

John takes a slip to stay right behind Rando without hurting his tires. Chris takes a wear around B and sets his sights on John. (Will we see Chris' big motor roar next turn?) Gatlin took an NPR, rounded Lesmo A on the outside and stayed outside. Tony ducked around the green racer and slid outside in Lesmo B for a wear. Will wanted to stay with John but will have to settle for the inside just in front of the corner.

Gatlin apologizes and he's back with us. We finally hear the yellow machine "git 'er done!"

Next Deadline: turn 24 due Friday, January 29 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 22 results:
Kal continues through the Variante Ascari 120s at 140 for already paid wear. Willy follows Kal's path at the posted speed. Brad takes the same route but scrapes a bit off his tires to pull even with Willy. Tim enters the chicane at 140 and drops 1 wear in the 120 space. Rando pops to his max and sets up in the middle lane to enter the corner next.

John gets a 2 space slip off of Rando and pulls to his inside. Chris finally dusts off the track at 200 to firmly establish himself in the middle pack. Tony continues around Lesmo B for paid wear. Gatlin and Will both plot 160, Will getting the initiative. He scrubs 2 wear off the tires in the B 120s and pulls along side the black racer. Gatlin now has no place to go, burning 2 wear in the corner and another to slow down with the track blocked. [RM note: Gatlin had to enter the corner at his plotted 160 since you must move at least 1 space before you can late brake.]

Kal's lead disappears. Chris joins the mid pack formation. The rear pack forms a "v" formation.

Next Deadline: turn 25 due Monday, February 1 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 24 results:
Kal keeps his speed up as he enters the Curva Parabolica on the outside for a wear. Willy and Brad both fly down the straight at 180 and have now caught the leader. Tim maintains his speed shedding a wear through the 120s. Rando gets the initiative into the corner staying safe at 120 and moving inside.

John takes the inside through Ascari but at 100mph so it doesn't cost him anything. Chris backs his beast down to 140 and scrubbing a wear off the tires pulls in behind John. Will gets the jump on Tony at 180 and cruises down the straight choosing the flexible middle lane. John meanwhile does 160 and holds onto the inside. Gatlin winds his race car up to 180 and pulls even with Tony but on the far outside.

Like dust in a weightless environment everyone has clumped together to form three proto-packs.

Next deadline: turn 26 due Wednesday, February 3 at 6pm EST/11pm UCT

Turn 25 results:
Kal maintains 160 around the parabola for already paid wear. Brad gets the jump on Willy at 160 around the outside of the corner, Willy opting for the inside, both burning one wear.

Tim slows for the curve and sets up outside. That allows John, Rando and Chris to catch up and make it 3 wide going in. Chris actually would have liked to make it 4 wide but since he couldn't he ended up spending a wear to slow down.

Will, Tony and Gatlin all spend a wear to get through the Variante Ascari.
