How fast would you go if your brake pads would fail a state safety inspection?!

I'll be taking stock of who plans to return for season 2 sometime prior to the end of the race. All current drivers are guaranteed a spot in the junior circuit as long as you're not DQ'd for NPR's.

The winner of this race will join the big boys in the senior circuit for season 2 so drive fast & take chances! Well, Rando, Will, & John are already there so the highest placing finisher not amongst that group will advance.

Some movement in the chase pack, and the Epingle corner looks to be a breeze in lap one. Thanks to everyone for getting their plots in early!

Next Deadline: Turn 10 due Wednesday, March 5 at 8am EST/1pm UTC.

Turn 9 Summary
Steve slows a bit to 140 and stays inside. Rando gets the jump on Turyko, plotting 160 and heading inside. Turyko goes 140 and pulls up behind Rando. John takes off at 160 and pulls up beside Turyko. Josh comes out of the corner at 120 and lines up to the inside. Will rockets out of the corner at 160 and squeezes to the inside between Turyko and Josh.

Chris finishes the corner at 120 and moves to the inside. Giovanni slows to 120 and takes the outer RL for 120. Jim slows to 100 and takes the slip through the outer RL for a wear. Dave takes the inner RL for 2 wear at 100. Marshall goes 120 on the outer RL for 2 wear.

We're putting the pedal to the metal as we hit the straightaway.

Next Deadline: Turn 11 Plots due Friday, March 6 at 8am EST/1pm UTC. Just a heads up, we're heading to "Daylight Saving" time next week in the US. I am planning to adjust the deadline anyway starting Monday to be 9am EDT. Because of the time change, this will still be 1pm UTC.

Turn 10 Summary
Steve has to slow down a bit more as he drops 2 wear to go 120 through the RL on the final corner of the first lap. Rando continues at 160 and grabs the line. John also continues at 160. Turyko goes 140 and gets the slip from Rando, pulling up next to John and behind Rando. Will plots 140, takes the slip from Turyko and pulls up behind John. Josh completes the line of slips, plotting 140 as well and keeping up with Will.

Chris ups his speed to 160 and keeps the gap from growing. Giovanni follows suit, also at 160. Jim pulls out of the corner at 140 and heads inside. Dave finishes the corner at 100. Marshall plots 120 to finish the corner and lines up behind Dave.

Steve,

I commend you. You hit the corner just right, you are on a very smooth racing line which compliments your car (of weak brakes).

My evil scheme is that your well-designed plan will fall apart once I am large in your rear-view mirror.

Cheers from NJ, :)

Gentlemen, our race leader has started lap 2! This turn also saw some order changes and several people resorting to the dice, with surprisingly every roll a success.

Steve has so far has an average speed of 122 MPH, but that is not the fastest car currently on the track. He's second to Will who is averaging 124 MPH in a bid to catch up in placement. Rando & John follow behind them at 118 MPH average.

Next Deadline: Turn 12 due Wednesday, March 11 at 9am EDT/1pm UTC.

Turn 11 Summary
Steve continues at 120 and moves to the inside, his first lap complete. Rando takes the RL at 120 for 2 wear and moves into the middle lane. Turyko plots 140 then late brakes using 2 skill --rolling a modified 5 (2+5-2)-- and takes the length of the RL at 120 for 2 wear. John, anticipating just such a move plots 120 but late brakes to 100 with 2 skill --rolling a modified 2 (2+2-2)-- and drops a wear on the line to pull up behind Turyko. Will plots 120 with a slip on the line for 2 wear and runs into a problem. Because of all the late braking, there's no room for him to finish the racing line. He's forced off the line and has to roll the dice to pay the overage. He gets lucky this time --rolling an unmodified 5 (2+3-0)-- safely exiting the corner and with the slip pulls up to the inside of Turyko. Josh slows to 80 on approach to the corner, opting to skip the slip opportunity on Will.

Chris drops to 120 and has to pass up on the RL and pulls up inside of Josh. Giovanni continues at 160 and grabs the RL behind Josh. Jim also maintains his speed of 140, staying inside. Dave tests his acceleration with 1 skill --rolling a modified 2 (2+1-1)-- and successfully plots 160. Marshall follows at 160 and gets a slip, pulling up next to Dave.

A fun turn where dice were used again, but not everyone was as successful! A small reshuffling of the order and Dave spins out on the last corner of lap 1.

Next Deadline: Turn 13 due Friday, March 13 at 9am EDT/1pm UTC. Methinks you guys should avoid the dice next turn, mmkay? :)

Turn 12 Summary
Steve plots 100 and enters Virage Senna for free on the outside. Rando continues at 120 and enters the corner on the 100s for a wear. Turyko hits the gas and enters the corner at 140 in the middle for 2 wear. Will plots 120 for free and pulls up behind Rando. John plots 140 for a wear and pulls up behind Turyko. Chris drops to 100 and spends 2 wear through the 60s.

Josh takes the RL at 80 for free. Giovanni plots 120 and then late breaks to 100 with a brakes test and 2 skill (result is mod 7 = 4+5-2). He spends 2 wear to go to the inside. Jim plots 120 on the line, using 1 wear and the chance table with 2 skill (result is mod 6 = 3+5-2). Dave plots 140 and spends 2 wear and a 3-skill chip to enter the corner on the line. He rolls a mod 7 (4+6-3) and spins out! Dave is knocked off the racing line and must begin next turn at 40 MPH (the lower of Acceleration and Start Speed). Marshall plots 120 to start the racing line and pulls up behind Dave.

The gap has closed! Turyko and Rando catch up to Steve at Corner 2. Everyone wisely(?) avoids the dice today.

Next Deadline: Turn 14 due Monday, March 16 at 9am EDT/1pm UTC.

Turn 13 Summary
Steve continues at 100 to finish Virage Senna and takes the 100 space of corner 2. Rando continues at 120 along the outside and pulls up behind Steve. Turyko slows to 120 to avoid an additional wear penalty and finishes the corner through the 80s, pulling up into corner 2 on the outside for free. John slows to 100 and finishes the corner through the middle lane, moving inside behind Rando. Will drops to 80 and takes the middle lane for free. Chris plots 120 for a wear to start the corner.

Giovanni follows Chris at 120 and takes the slip into Virage Senna for 1 wear. Josh finds his gas pedal and starts the corner on the outside at 120 for free. Jim exits the corner at 140 and takes the middle lane as he starts his second lap. Dave recovers from his spin and leaves the corner at 40. Marshall takes the line at 120 for two wear and moves to the inside.

Will plots 120 through the outside lane of corner 2 for free and pulls up behind John.

Chris plots 120 again and plays an extra wear to go through the 80s and +40. He pays a second wear to go through the 100 space in corner 2. Giovanni plots 100 through the 80s for a wear and pulls up behind Chris. Josh pays two wear to go 100 through the 60s and lines up next to Giovanni. Jim slows to 100 and takes the outside lane for free. Marshall does the same. Dave tests his acceleration with 1 skill to go 100. He rolls a modified 9 (6+4-1) and stays to the inside.

Important correction: Giovanni has 18 wear, rather than the 17 noted on the track. He paid for +20 in turn 13.
