Yep. He's going to have a target in his back at ManorCon...

Or maybe he will care-bear himself to victory?

ManorCon XXXIII, or the 2015 EDC, was won by Cyrille Sevin. Toby was mashed in both of his games.

I may get around to writing my experiences up, but I will say it was interesting to come face to face with the Italians and French etc. I was on a table in round 2 with Cyrille, where he was England to my Turkey. I had no real influence on his game - Russia decided to bash heads with me (taking Rum with a fleet and then building F Sev is a pretty obvious tell), and Italy & Austria piled on. Cyrille was on to win the game, but he came up against the best defence of France I have ever seen.

Tom Haver and Conrad Woodring were there to represent USA! USA! and both had strong tournaments. Britain's top player was (I think) Jim Mills, who I have played several times (twice that weekend) and is formidable.

Brian Dennehy from Ireland was the closest to getting a Solo.

Odd tale - on Saturday night 7 dip players got stuck in a lift for a couple of hours, with nothing but a bottle and a half of wine to sustain them. If only they'd had a board...

This one in Central MA. https://sites.google.com/site/boroughsdiplomacy/home

It's next Saturday/Sunday. Sorry for the late notice, but I found out about it recently. In fact, I'm just starting a club of my own. On short notice, I taught three guys the game this morning and will have at least 4 next Friday night. I'm hoping to get a few of them to go to the above tournament.

Adam Sigal is running a Diplomacy game at the Congress of Gamers this coming weekend (September 26 & 27) in Rockville, Maryland. It's just a single open-gaming session to be run on Sunday at 11 a.m. This is not a tourney!

Website: http://emsps.com/cog/

I expect to be there for the Championship Formula Racing (re-branded Speed Circuit) demo at 1 p.m..

Hope to see some of you there!

SLOTerp, I am so sorry I was not able to turn up at the 26-27th convention. I had been unable to canvass on Saturday so I felt obligated to do it on the 27th to make up for it. Would have liked to have seen you there! How was it?

 Ah well. Any chance you'll get to the Tempest in two weeks?

While I didn't play, the Diplomacy game at COG looked pretty intense (from my memory, how all ftf games are - intense).

I only played Speed Circuit and burned out my engine. My daughter scored a 2nd place in Machi Koro, a 2nd in Speed Circuit, and 3rd place in Carcassone. She had a blast and I think I've created a future powerhouse of a game player.

Alas, I did not register yet, and I think it'll have to wait until AFTER the first week of November (election 3 Nov Tuesday and we canvass every weekend).

I wish there were a clearinghouse for Diplomacy tournament results.

The North American DipCon champion was crowned at the Philadelphia Massacre back in August. Wikipedia says it was Chris Martin. I can't find tourney results anywhere but f*&^ing Wikipedia knows. Congrats to Chris!

Nor can I find results for Tempest in a Teapot. Facebook post says 39 players...

On the plus side, a Dutch champion was crowned this past weekend with complete results posted at Facebook. Congrats to Phllipp Weissert!
