I'm starting to think so. At their current price they can pay a 11% dividend, once the crisis is over of course. 20 billion is a big chunk for upfront payouts, but I suspect they could endure costs up 100 billion with little long term effect, though it would be hard to absorb for a couple years. I'd say my biggest concern would be seizure by Obama, but given the multinational scope of BP that's unlikely.
So it could be a good play to pick up BP. I'm watching it now.
