Thanks George. I have actually been called back to work to do part-time stuff, for less pay and no benefits, but at least it's something, and I'm definitely looking for another job. The big problem is EVERYONE is laying off, so all the places I would normally look for work are not hiring. Also, since my wife works part-time, she doesn't get health benefits either, so family health care is going to be a huge expense.

The only silver lining, and I did not know this until recently, is that the Economic Stimulus package provides money to pay 65% of COBRA health insurance for the first 9 months. After 9 months... well, I'm screwed. I'll need to look for private insurance and get just real basic coverage.

Anyhow... Didn't mean to hijack this thread. I certainly do hope the S&P goes up and not down. If lenders and investors regain confidence, then hopefully companies will do better and start hiring again.

In my rental business we are seeing a good number of people coming from Michigan, when previously we had seen none.

Eric you should come here, the Army Corps of Engineers is on a hiring spree for engineers of all types. I know a guy in human resources if you'd like a contact. For openings see here.

Regardless best wishes to you and the wife in the hunt.
